We used to unstick clutches by giving everything inside the bellhousing a good long blast with the steam-cleaner, then emptying a halon or co2 extinguisher all over the clutch. it never failed! the steam cleaner gets any gunk out and heats everything up, then the shock-cooling finishes the job.

Same thing happens with automobile Drum brakes. It was hot. As it cooled, moisture condensated & oxidized, gluing it together. "You rode it hard and put it away wet" as an old Cowboy would say. Now it's free, don't leave that water in there. Spray a couple cans Brake Kleen in there to flush out the water. Buy a tarp for Joseph!

As many have said, a frozen clutch plate is common on heavy equipment that's stood a long time..... you've done exceptionally well in unsticking it in the manner you've used.... who'd have guessed.... hot, soapy water...... I'll remember that..... very well done.... excellent information 👌 👏 👍..... All the best from Portland, Dorset, U.K........

Hi, hello Andris. I think since ages ago watching your channel I have come to the conclusion it should be renamed " Ants Pants Ingenuity Centre". I think the thing is that people watching this have come across obstacles and dead ends on projects, but YOU have the mind set and skills to overcome these. Giving others the encouragement to get in the same mindset, to have a go.. So it's no wonder your channel is increasing. Sorting things out, fixing it, with a massive sense of humour. 10/10 my friend.

Glad you got it unstuck. It’s hard to believe how rusted the clutch can get to stick it to the flywheel especially on a machine that big. Years ago my father in law had an old Allis Chalmers model G tractor that he used only in summer here in Minnesota. Every spring we had to pull it out of the shed and start it in gear, hold the clutch in and run into a big oak tree in the yard to get it unstuck. Love your videos!

Sometime you get lucky In all the years I’ve only seen 3 clutches stick, only one did not unstick by the method you just tried, it was a wonderful Chinese built loader backhoe. The clutch sticking to the flywheel is a very common issue if a vehicle has been stood unused for a long time. The usual solution is starting in gear but I don't know if you can even do that on this machine. The other is to warm up the whole bell housing then hit it hard with a lump hammer whilst the pedal is depressed.

I always lock my clutch down on all my equipment if I am not going to use they for a while. If possible keep critters out of bell housing as they like to build nest and pee on everything. Ask me how I know, On your steering brakes I was told to pull the handle one time quickly ( like pumping it) and then apply brake for turning. It does help some. Also if you had a large weight on back of dozer think it would steer better. On my dozer the type of oil in the brake housing is mineral oil or oil used in a limited slip rear end. Told any other kind of oil would ruin the brake linings.

From now on it's just fine tuning and adjustments. Very happy you got it unstuck. Definitely there was a few hairy moments when the dozer decided not to turn and just sink deeper into the ground.
