Spent Christmas day on the beach in Nazare in 1986. No tourists just a few local beach eateries, simple honest food. No graffiti no rubbish in fact a beautiful untouched place of the fishermen. Boats on the shore waiting to go out for their haul. Won't go back, would rather remember the place and the people as it was. My sons then 4,7,11 remember it fondly too. We travelled all over in a converted Morris ambulance. Loved and still love Portuguese and Portugal.

Love to see Tomar. My brother lives not far from there and when we used to visit him we could never find the campsite open, so parked out the back of his property up in the hills. Glad you are able to use it now, for free. Thanks for the litter picking. It is such a pity for these beautiful places to be overrun by rubbish. Lovely vlog as usual. When we went up to the castle and convent they were having an Orange Festival, it was wonderful. So Portuguese.

I have lots of off grid friends in the Oliveira do Hospital area. Although there are horrific fires in the Serra da Estrella ( the largest in Portugal) near Oliveira now. It is a wonderful area with helpful local people and many people living off grid. A wonderful independant lady estate agent works in the area she is recommended and so well thought of that she has no need to advertise. Honest and hardworking she saved my friend from a terrible land deal and found him the perfect Quinta. I highly recommend you visit the area and look her up. I won't name her here, but would privately. Good Luck

I love Tomar! Stayed in that same spot and walked the hill and castle walls with my dog. You make me want to go back.. don’t think I can justify another trip now for only 90 days…but I am now weighing it up again!! It used to be cheap land there a few years back and a big influx of ex pats bought property. Still think you need to see Ponte de Lima!!! (Stay near the public gardens)

We were in Nazare in June, we stayed a 2 nights in the same car park. There was a massive fight between the "car guards" involving batons - not very nice to see at all. Unfortunately we added to the rubbish when our drown got caught in a side wind and blew onto the edge of the cliff. We were not able to retrieve it due to the danger - we did get to enjoy visiting the lighthouse on a stunning day, and as we slept there overnight we had the cliffs to ourselves first thing in the morning before the crowds.

We actually had an apartment about 30 minutes from Nazare from 2020 to 2021 (before vanlife) so we visited Nazare a lot, very disappointed to see all this litter. Portugal, like all countries needs to crack down on the people that are disrespecting the environment and if they arent going to, then they need to pay someone to clean these areas. Glad you are visiting my adopted country! Happy travels!

Like you, I too am weighing up potential areas for a project but keep leaning back to Andalusia. Would be great if during the winter you could do a vlog on buying a renovation project and the key area's to find such in Andalusia, without highlighting where you settled yourselves. Thanks
