Vitas, a Ukrainian singer/songwriter is the original artist. He is recognised for his unique falsetto.
Dimash performed this on stage in I Am a Singer in 2017. Apparently, the show did not receive prior copyright permission and as a result he has said that he would never again give permission to Dimash to sing the song in any venue for any reason, essentially banning him from ever singing it again.Regardless, Dimash has received more hits on KZbin in the past 6 years than Vitas has over the past 12 years. No subtitles for this song - we all know the song anyway.

And I'm from Russia. And I know for sure that Mr. Sergey Pudovkin, he is the producer of the artist, forbade singing Vitas's songs for Dimash. Vitas was sunbathing on the ocean islands with his wife at that time. The scandal occurred because of the Kazakh Komsomolets journalists, Mr. Pudovkin experienced very aggressive trolling from these people. I think the scandal was necessary for the PR of the young Dimash. Vitas has many other original songs and they are also masterpieces. He is the creator, and Dimash sings covers

Dimash actually raised the pitch 3 times higher. His head voice is much fuller and supported. However, i don't think there was any problem between them. The problem was with the show using the song without permission.

I read a lot of rather negative comments towards Vitas and a lot of comments championing Dimash which is understandable (because a Dear will immediately defend the honour of their favourite!). Yet I really appreciate your respect for the original artist and composer of Opera 2. Even if Vitas has been lip synching for his entire career on this song like many people suspect (or accuse him of) it doesn't matter. He wrote it, he was famous for it, he had a hit with it and should receive the respect and recognition for it. Dimash has recognition for so many songs, but Vitas not so much. I think we should give him a break. Yes, Dimash made the song his own but then again he does that with everything he sings. He's like King Midas, everything he touches turns to gold. And he's got over 7 octaves plus almost every vocal technique under the sun to play with. Vitas just has his falsetto, his attitude and this song, I think we should let him have it. Dimash knocks it out the park, but it still belongs to Vitas. Great reaction!

Витас с продюссером решили заработать на Димаше. Витас в основном поет под фонограмму. Димаш перепел Витаса и пошел гораздо дальше в своем творчестве. Димаш поет только вживую и его голос самый красивый в мире. Кроме того что Витас решил заработать на Димаше но и заодно испугался конкуренции. Димаш больше не пел эту песню,но видео пошло по всему миру.Правла информация была что Витас с продюссером хорошо заработали,а заплатил им якобы кто-то из богатых поклонников китайского происхождения. Could could you even compare a genius like Dimash to Vita’s is beyond me. I have lost respect for you. Vitas really sounded like Donald Duck. On top of that he mimed to this song. Thanks to Vitas and Opera 2, I got to know Dimash But Phil, I think you have to listen to Dimash's version again, and I think you will reconsider your opinion. Not only did Dimash modulate it three times (2 more than Vitas), sing with staccato, but he had a clearer and more fuller voice - live. And he sang the two verses in different registers. They simply can not be compared with each other

As vrea să știu dacă a mai existat un cântăreț masculin care să cânte tot ce ține de operă(bass,bariton,tenor,soprana, etc),care să cânte orice gen muzical în peste 15 limbi și să depășească octavele pianului.. Pentru mine, o voce fără viață, prea ascuțită, un stil robotizat cumva, deși este un bărbat atrăgător, are o suficiență care-mi displace. L-am ascultat și înainte de Dimash și nu m-a impresionat. Vitas can raise the pitch higher than Dimadh. When vitas wrote it, he wasn’t competing. He wrote it in an Octave that suited the live version of the song the best. Dimash’s annoying fans turned it into a competition which isn’t fair.

It’s all a matter of taste, imho. Besides the “live”controversy with Vitas, I don’t like how he is presenting himself to the audience. To me, he looks very narcissistic, showing self-admiration. Again, that’s my personal impression. As for the voice, I simply prefer Dimash’s MUCH warmer tones, even if take out the fact that he took the chorus parts higher.

Sorry, you've never been more wrong. Vitas has a narrow, nasal, metallic, almost robotic voice. He can hit the high notes, yes, but they are cold and there is no vibrato worth mentioning. Dimash has a rich, full, warm operatic voice even on the high notes, including a beautiful vibrato. Vitas may be impressive for anyone who has not heard Dimash, but whoever did hear Dimash should notice the enormous difference in quality. Besides, Dimash went two semitones higher than Vitas.

Hello Fil !!! Unfortunately, Vitas is the singer of almost one song - Opera-2, the rights to which belong not to Vitas, but to the Pudovkin production center. It was this composition that became incredibly popular and made Vitas popular. Vitas, of course, performed other compositions, but it was Opera-2 that showed the singer’s ability to perform notes of incredible height. And yes, Vitas is really a truly artistic and handsome young man and handsome, he always looked great on stage. It was not Vitas who forbade Dimash to perform his songs, but Vitas’ producer, Sergey Pudovkin. Vitas himself had nothing against it. But at the same time, we cannot say that Dimash stole the song. High notes in themselves are far from vocal. Many people can take them - separately from singing. It’s just that Vitas had a brilliant producer who managed to get the most out of Vitas’ ability to handle these notes. A “live concert” of a performer with his real voice is not the same thing as a soundtrack recording of a song performed in a group concert with many other performers. Vitas could handle simple songs that did not require vocal acrobatics himself. But if at his solo concert some difficult songs sounded clean and beautiful, this was 99.9% a studio recording with all the ensuing possibilities. There are many old recordings of Vitas, where it is clearly visible how weak and inaccurate, in general, his voice is, because there was absolutely no training. But this did not prevent him from being popular in Russia in those years if a competent producer got down to business. Vitas was indeed a fairly famous performer in Russia at that time, and also toured a lot in China, where he is still remembered and loved today. But he didn’t last long on this wave - a few years... Maybe he’s still touring somewhere, where he is remembered, where there are his loyal fans... Maybe... So I wouldn’t compare Vitas with Dimash or Dimash with Vitas. Actually the tv company, organising the singer competition, could use songs of different authors and singers for the competition only. However, the tv company made Dimash sing it for another venue within the singer show but outside the competition and that arose Vitas producer's attention and Dimash was banned to sing it again. And envy on Vitas's side, of course, because Dimash sang it live and on a semitone higher, while Vitas always sings it with a back track. But it was composed by him and he was famous in China before Dimash, so the ban is understandable.

Actually I was very surprised and impressed by this performance. I heard Vitas do another performance of Opera 2 many years ago where the "wind" part was done in steps. I like this version so much better. I like both these performances equally but they are different interpretations. Vitas does come accross more like a linear Dick Van Dyke suave vocalist but truth be told, I am more attracted to the warm playful touseled man look that Dimash portrays. I prefer the warm more intimate tones at the beginning that Dimash chooses over the colder more crisp wintery tones that Vitas chooses. Both are excellent interpretations of this song. Я не люблю, когда Димаша сравнивают с кем-то. Но раз уж начали, то версия Димаша мгновенно зацепила мою душу, а Витаса я слышала еще до того как познакомилась с творчеством Димаша. И осталась равнодушной. Не знаю как объяснить это, но это так! Не знаю, что именно делает Димаш, не знаю ...но Он проник в мое сердце и я даже полюбила песню Опера 2! That he is lipsyncing sometimes is no secret. Vitas has tried to prove that he can do it without playback, for example by swinging the mic back and forth, etc., while his opponents consider this part of his fakery.
