Love your reaction to this song. It fit so well a few years ago into both sides you talked about. Relationship and where I was standing with GOD at the time. Beautiful song and delivery by Myles. Nothing that Alterbridge does ever disappoints me because of the emotional way they bring it through their vocals, the composition and their talent on the instruments.

Hi Fable, great reaction. You might not be aware that Myles Kennedy (lead singer of Alter Bridge) has a solo album called Year of the Tiger. There's a song on that album called 'Love Can Only Heal' which I'm betting you're going to adore. I'm not a musician, but the guitar he uses in that song has a twang to it, and the guitar solo in that song is amazing too.

I love how you've interpreted this song. Alter Bridge are known for their more-ambiguous lyrics which can carry multiple meanings, or a different meaning depending on the person. This song is about a failing relationship, one where the other person has so much self-hate that it is destroying the relationship. Your theory of it being related to God is really original, but i doubt that is what it is about since Myles got scarred from religion (his Father was a Christian Scientist who ended up dying due to a refusal to seek medical aid due to his beliefs).

This song is definitely relationship heavy. The scene of summer to fall, grey skies like my love. Just coming out of summer, in love, but it’s fading. Someone unable to love and care for themselves is killing a relationship that was once strong. The narrator is saying he’s done all he can to help the person out, but it’s taken it’s toll. The final lines of winters come, snows on the ground, while beautiful, is the end of a relationship, “but I’m long gone”. Obviously a religious aspect could be taken from this as it too is a relationship, but Myles (singer) is not a devout follower of religion, the entire third album is a concept album of him letting go of his upbringing and moving on to a new belief system. Alter bridge will always be a perfect 30 for me, too much of a die hard If you’re doing live, words darker than their wings royal albert hall. A new AB song that probably has the most positive message off their new album, is “the bitter end” give that a reaction!

If you like his voice and acoustic guitar react to Myles Kennedy's songs from his solo album "Year of the Tiger". It's a very personal album about dealing with the loss of his father - who passed away after refusing medical assistance due to his faith in the Christian Science church when Kennedy was four years old. Very beautifull songs, all of them. You can do "Love can only heal" or "Nothing but a name".
