I've found looking at old trades and seeing who was taken with those picks has helped a lot with the "lose the trade" point, you felt like you overpaid or lost the trade and then the counterparty went and took a Quentin Johnston or Sky Moore with those picks

"Lost A Trade, Won A Title" rung so true for me. In my keeper league... I traded away Waddle, James Cook, and an injured Joshua Palmer for Kyren Williams, an injured Tee Higgins, and Zay Flowers. That next week was the start of the "Kyren is fine. Just tweaked his ankle." into "Kyren goes to IR" slow burn and Tee re-aggravated his injury. I was feeling really down on the trade until all the boys were back at full health and just balling out. It was too late to save my season, but now I have three awesome keepers for next season to pair with my others. Trade value fully fluctuates and is never the same as it was when the trade went through. Gotta trust the process. Homie who traded me Kyren probably thought he wasn't gonna last. Now I'm looking at a potential Top-4 RB to keep.
@justinbodenschatz37967 ай бұрын
Loved Mike's about risk being built into adp..drafted dameon Pierce last year in the 9th round because everyone in my league was terrified (and right) but I knew someone would need a rb within 2 weeks due to injury. Sure enough was able to trade pierce for tee Higgins. Not the best trade, but the point stays the same

Remember folks! Sometimes the best trade is the one that didn’t get made…or the trade that got declined! For example, in a 14 team league where I lost Burrow there was no QBs on waiver wire. I shopped around Puka and dudes laughed and rejected my Puka. Well! Puka was giving me Qb like points in the playoffs 😎 thanks Puka ❤. I won 🙌🏾 the Championship in that league.

1. Kick players out who agree to a 3 way trade but then cut out one owner and do a secret trade with the other, based on what the 3rd owner proposed.

Drafted Tua late last year had him for the first like 5 weeks. My friend dropped Dak at some point and I picked him up cuz I had CD. Dak eventually took the starting line up and never looked back. Led me to a ring🔥

How things change: in the 2018 edition of 10 things one of them was about being wary of rookie wide receivers "We continue to chase Odell Beckham and that 2014 WR class and it just doesn’t happen that often. In draft season, you’re looking for guys who come out of the gate quickly and that is not typically rookie WRs....For the most part, you end up cutting these WRs before they start to actually contribute. These are not the lottery tickets you’re looking for." Obviously they are not contradicting that now but now they are worth a stash at the draft as more and more break out more quickly

The rules becoming more friendly to offenses has certainly made it easier for rookie offensive players to have good starts to their careers.

Day 2 RB's - I think the fantasy community needs to rethink the whole idea of Round 3 RB's being "high draft capital" adds that will affect incumbents. Take a look at all the round 3 RB's from the last 4 years of the NFL draft. There were 11, and not 1 of them dethroned the incumbent for the starting job in their rookie seasons. (As electric as Achane was, 31-year-old Mostert was still the 1a.) And only 2 (Rachaad White and Brian Robinson) turned into a starter after his rookie season (jury still out on '23 draft picks). Round 3 RB's might need to start to be viewed as Day 3 picks IMHO.
@jeffstanley60137 ай бұрын
For reference, a quick list of round 3 RB's from the last 4 years: 2023 (4): Kendre Miller, Tyjae Spears, Devon Achane, Tank Bigsby. 2022 (3): Rachaad White, Tyrion Davis-Price, Brian Robinson. 2021 (1): Trey Sermon. 2020 (3): Ke'Shawn Vaughn, Zack Moss, Darrynton Evans.

imho while #8 (jason's "good isn't bad") is generally true, pretty much everything y'all said in the discussion of that point could not be more wrong/was oversimplified - all three RB cases were good process that had specific reasons it didn't work out (though you all also way overstated smart managers' reactions to the rookies drafted) and we should be doing it again, including and especially with your kyren example ... not trying to be a troll, your show is a good time, but that stood out to me as egregiously bad thinking
