Are you going to join me in the Banished Lands this month!?

Great review, my friend. Yes! My heart hurts everytime I see people skipped The Faithful and the Fallen and read this immediately... There's so much emotional context they're missing!! This is even more so in A Time of Courage, the final book. Of Blood and Bone is a sequel trilogy, it's not a separate series, and all 7 books are essentially one big series divided into two parts. As you know all already, The Banished Lands saga (all 7 books) is my number 1 favorite completed series of all time! Can't wait for you to finish this series!

The way john gwynne writes characters is just amazing and unique. I've read the series around 10 or 9 months ago and still when thinking about the ending and some scenes I'll feel them and not only remember them. Shoutout to my boys Bleda and Drem, they were my favorites but imo the big friend of Riv (who I didn't like dat much tbh) I think Vald is his name has the most epic and badass scene of the series and I think it is in book 3 so I won't spoiler but damn was that epic.

I just finished this today, and wow, it was fantastic! I just loved the new characters. Also, some beautifully written passages, not just in the action sequences ... it doesn't need to be super long to be good. Agree with you completely on this one. Just great ... again. Will dive right into part two ...

I think part 2 was even better so you're in for a treat

Just finished reading this, probably not a common opinion, but it's my favorite Gwynne book so far! I think it's largely due to what you discussed. It maintains pretty much everything I loved about FatF, while approaching things in a different way that clicked with me much better. The conflicts that arise from a Ben-Elim run society not being as great as one would expect, the bigger emphasis on mystery and things running in the background.. Also, Drem is just an absolutely phenomenal character who stole the show for me, and I absolutely loved the horror undertones with his storyline and everything going on there.

You know how for FatF each book is better then book 1........ya he does that again. Its amazing how he makes the bonds between characters feel so real.

Just finished this today and got hit by the John Gwynne Jab aswell. I went through the same of wondering if I'd overhyped tFatF when i read it last year but this confirms it for me. I will buy anything Gwynne writes for the rest of my life 😅

Just finished a time of dread, and I think it was as good if not better than malice. I think the characters were good, and the plot was great.

I agree with you. If you haven't read F&F don't start Of Blood and Bone because you'll know the epic ending of the first series and nobody wants spoilers
