It is a great tye. I have done it with the materials I have. But I'll definitely now get the right stuff and try and get it as close to this as possible.

I really like that pattern ...... it will sit in the surface film more naturally than the standard dryfly method. Hoping to try this out during the Green Drake hatch here in Pennsylvania USA late May - early June.

I love your videos and your book. One thing Id like to see you improve on with these patterns (from your book) is using standard materials that people have rather than having different materials for every fly. I have a lot of materials but I was having to start tracking down a new material every fly. For instance I don't what a furnace is and I have no badger hackles because I didn't know badgers had feathers LOL. I started to just substitute. If I could make a recommendation, your next book should include more flies tied with the standard hackles and materials people have for other flies. I would also like to see a book with more standard flies and standard nymph variations, rather than a bunch of super realstic flies. They are fun to tie, but I just wish it included some more variations for nymphs and wets, due to the fact that as cool as dry flies look, realistically fly fishermen are fishing subsurface 95% of the time at best

Thanks, you should have a look at my new beginners book. It's not really for beginners but lots of techniques with the most common materials.

@The feather bender Thanks, I am planning on it. Great books. The videos really tell me everything I need to know but the text dialogue and pictures in the book are great and I like just being able to flip through and pick a pattern to tie that day based on the great photos

Great pattern Barry. Any tips for treating that Moose hair? Mine breaks very easily.
@Thefeatherbender3 жыл бұрын
Hi Barry, its sounds like that you have a bad piece of Moose mane. Nothing you can really do with that, they should not be brittle, they are surprisingly strong. The best supplier is Natures Spirit.

Great fly. If you tie any tube flies save the ends you trim off. Put one of these bits on the hook and you wont hook yourself.
