Ok so i just started out playing with the reductive "grimdark" paint method and this tutorial was such a huge help and inspiration to get started. Only been doing some pinwashes and a bit of weathering with oils but now i'm hooked. Such a fun way to paint!

1st thing I was going to ask before this video was 25 seconds in, was if you do AoS models. I have plenty of such. My very first GW, banshees, model i did was in a grim dark theme. But different skins, thats going to be a game changer.

Is there anything in the grimdark catalog for paning dark (african) skintones in the grimdark style, importantly, getting a good colour palelt for your army? The grimdark style always sems to very much rely on the contrast of light skin with dark clothing. I want to give my Genestealer Cult mid brown to dark african skintones, but worried thier will not be enough contrast with how dark the style leans to. I baught the Genestealer cults videos from the website, jsut wondering if there is anything in the right vain, or you could make something about dark skintones in grimdark painting.

What is the mix of paint/thinner ratio when you mix for the air brush? I find that citadel paints are harder to thin for airbrush work.

Yes they are a little harder. I use a 0.4 needle. And I tend to slightly over thin. Maybe 3 parts thinner to one part paint. And just build up the opacity. I do have a lot of “air paints” but again they do require thinning. The tamiya range and fantastic and super smooth. But pick up there thinner also if u use as it’s a specific one for there paints. But as a rule I tend to mix 2/3 parts thinner to paint. And if it’s a thick paint, maybe 4 parts thinner to 1 part paint.
