Too many roosters for the amount of hens .

it has nothing to do with the amount of roosters in this situation. We've had chickens long enough to know when one of our roo's is just plain ignorant.

You have WAY too many roosters per hen. Its 10-12 hens per single rooster. You culled that rooster but you were driving him insane. Bad human

Thank you for this video, I have a bad rooster (although he was friendly as a baby), who’s been attacking people and our other rooster. I was really hoping that it was just a faze he was going through. Because growing up we had roosters that were mean during puberty and then they were good again. But this one is just getting worse, and I think it’s time for me to say goodbye and stop dragging my feet about it.

I have about 20 roosters and 140 hens. They get along good. I'm lucky. I do have one rooster I have to keep penned wit his hens, all the roosters pick on him and he's a wimp. He left a silkie beat him up and he's a buff orpington lol. He's the first rooster and oldest one too. Your roosters are so pretty.

He is absolutely beautiful! the colors are so rooster-like..lol I am glad he was able to bounce back. I actually ended up with a rooster when I purchased what I thought was all hens. Thankfully I was able to re home him with a family that needed a new rooster for breeding so it was a win-win. I have heard horrible stories about how bad it can go but also have heard amazing stories about how kind and calm other roosters can be.

Yes! We've had mostly calm roosters.

I have two Roosters and two hens, need more hens but did not want to risk getting sick ones so was told to wait until spring. My two Roosters get along,both Barred Rocks, one is brutal and attacks like a guard dog.. Many predators here,hawks,coyotes,bobcats, racoons,skunks,bear, you name it.. The aggressive Rooster I let him be tough to protect.

I had a man fighter Rooster. Took him to a friends farm where his flock is free range. Figured I give him a 50/50 chance to survive. A predator did eventually get him. Just took another Rooster to the farm. He was really rough with the hens. Most of them had their back feathers missing. I do have a little Bantam rooster. He's feisty but harmless.

Walter, my Plymouth Rock Rooster was the biggest yet most docile Roo. When the other two, "punks" started teaming up on my boy, I put them one in the freezer and another in the crock pot. Walter is still king of the yard and I know this sounds crazy, but I actually feel like he is grateful to me. He's my boy. LOL. This was an awesome video!

Around what time would you generally cull your extra Roosters? How many Weeks/Months old....
@TheFewellHomestead7 жыл бұрын
I would say 12-16 weeks would be ideal. If you want more meat (if you're planning on eating them), then around the 5-6 month mark. But around 6 months old, they begin to mature.

I wonder if it might be because she was not willing to mate with him every time he wanted it, at the second he wanted it? I ended up accidentally getting roosters(was sent them when we ordered pullets)and ended up separating each of them from the hens. The first one was okay, until when a hen refused him, then he beat the hen up, and then would beat her for no reason. We separated him from the flock. Now with no rooster, the hens are happy as can be.

Three types of Rooster The Gentle men = looks after the girls The Rapist = covers them to Death The Gay = not interested in covering , protecting and or sorting out the lady’s problems so trouble brews etc best to raise him tame as is tame as a cat takes time but gotta start from shell to adult . Sorry you had trouble ☹️ how is it now 😊

I am not scared of animals but I used to have a rooster who was terrifying. My husband liked him and I should have understood that divorce was in my future. Now I have one cock and two hens and he is an amazing gentleman. If one of the hens is laying he always stands next to her like a bodyguard. Is that usual?

You should referred to that one rooster as a Hen! Remember the political correct crowd. Do you ever trim your rooster spurs? You can twist them off with a pair of pliers.

This is the definition of a poor understanding of of how wildlife asserts dominance ur so called bad rooster challenged the alpha of the flock and they started fighting and it sounds like the “bad” rooster had won in this situation u don’t cull the rooster because he challenged the alpha if anything u keep that rooster because he is the one that will protect ur flock no matter what I had the same situation my rooster had reigned over my flock for 3-4 years and a hatchling from that spring challenged him and won and I didn’t cull him I simply let them be because they are barn yard breeds they don’t fight to death like game fowl roosters will u gotta let nature take its course and the whole thing about them sneaking up behind ur hens u gotta give them a good year to truly learn after that they’re fine and do there job very well but take it as a learning experience

In my opinion there are two types: aggressive rooster should be put into chicken soup and schnitzel, horny rooster should be worshiped and make fertile eggs for babies.
