The Fieldcraft Survival Pillars of Preparedness are EDC, Mobility, and Homestead (or Safe Home). All of these work together to better prepare each of us for whatever circumstances we find ourselves in. However, they are tied together by the umbrella of Mindset. Mike Glover talks about how mindset is integral to the successful planning and execution of any preparedness plan. Through his Special Operations career, he was able to find successful ways to build his mental strength.
Mindset is often discussed, but often misunderstood and properly applied. Having a resilient mind allows you to bounce back from bad circumstances and having the mental strength to work to put yourself in a better situation than you are currently in. Generally, people want to be comfortable. However, mentally and physically exposing yourself to things that make you uncomfortable can help you strengthen your mind for situations where it really counts.

Excellent topic. You are the first person I have heard discuss "resiliency", the ability to quickly bounce back when confronted with adversity or a traumatic event. Many preppers are not resilient.even though resourceful. Thank you again.

Agree with what you are saying 100%! I do not hear other preppers talking about this a lot. What I would add to this is resilience when it comes to problem solving and dealing with people. This is different from physical resilience but important. Having a strategic mindset and not being reactive or emotional when making decisions.

your message is resonating with me. Where my comfort level in the outdoors is second nature to me and strong, I have been doubting my abilities since my heart stints and femoral artery by-pass surgeries. I prefer the out doors because of the freedom from schedules, time, and routines. Just the basics, fire, food, shelter and all day to do it.

The prep is what stressed me out, I over prep, as for the moment of incident, when I was in Afghanistan I reacted quick, super quick then mild panic / surprise for 20 seconds followed by a drug like euphoria for 12 hours after. Mind you a grenade blowing up 6ft away will do that.

Good luck, and for Christ sake, get out of your comfort zone. Carry on 😉

When you're camping and feeling at your absolute lowest it's important to laugh about it. The first night ALWAYS sucks. You didn't prepare, you forgot something, you didn't consider the following. When you laugh about how awful it is it makes it manageable. Also, remember what sucked so you can fix it the next nighy

Want to know high stress? Try babysitting grown ass soldiers who cant do a fucking thing for themselves, never mind be able to think for themselves! Compounded by the problem of leadership expecting perfection 110% of the time, whilst not being squared away themselves. Ive grown to hate my phone for the 100 to 300 text messages I get a day because no one in my damn unit can do a fucking thing for themselves! Oh and that insult to injury, being considered the oddball of the group because you can handle yourself and get the mission done without any of these people! THATS stress
