A great range test and helps keep you honest and from getting bored.

I’m guilty about running a ton of ammo and having a blast shooting steel but I feel like my skill level has gone down since I quit training with paper targets. I’ve got to get back to it and this video was a great reminder to do so.

I use this as my warm up most practice session. It is great. If you think you have it down, just back up a little more. This at 10 yards is HARD even with a dot. Use a timer and record your time to track progress.

Where do you get your target from? If there a link to print one off?
@Just1Guy100017 сағат бұрын
@caseysmith8831 There are several places online that you can get the downloads from. I think Lucky Gunner is one, if not, just search.

There are two ways to shoot this drill. 1: As you have done here. 2: Timed on an ISPC target. There is an article on the internet that shows doing that. I don’t remember exactly where. I’ve modified targets that I already have to meet that requirement. When timed, it is shot at 7 yards. All single target shots are shot on the body and must be in the "A" zone. Any dual targets that need to be shot, 3-4, 6-7, 9-10, the second shot/group of shots, are to be shot at the head “A” zone. The idea is to have zero misses and every drill shot in under the par time. It’s a really cool to shoot it like that as well.

I love this, I do combos of center mass hit box drills and then dot torture, people laugh at my dot torture misses but its harder than it looks, especially weak hand.

Those 2” dots are TINY. I usually use 3” at 5-7 yards and it’s still not easy.

I intentionally bought a gas blow back air soft replica of my pistol and built a home range to train this exact target and other drills so that I can do better dry fire at home and then confirm it with full recoil at the range regularly. Gas blow back air soft drops the training cost to less than 0.01/rd. The key is the manipulations and building and maintaining the grip and other shooting skills. Air soft does not give you full recoil but that is OK it gives enough recoil to keep me honest as a training aide. It is also $0.52 to shoot that target in total and I can do it when I have a spare 10-15 minutes. No range bag, no hearing protection, no driving to the range or open space, no lead exposure, etc. I highly recommend getting an airsoft replica to train with. I like it better than standard dry fire.

You nailed it. I try to stick to 50-60 rounds. I like the dot drill. Intentionality is key to training.

I love these kind of lie detector test drills, it's easy to get into the habit of banging steel plates and calling it good just cause you hear a klank (i'm very guilty of it). I get this target out whenever me or one of my guys start getting a little cocky. Works every time.
@charlesjacobs47677 сағат бұрын
I love the “lie detector test drill”. Dot torture is 100% that. Seems easy until you actually try it. Humbling. And probably the most effective:efficient drill there is. One box of ammo and you’ve accomplished far more than punching paper for an hour.

Two hand and strong hand, I can do this in my sleep at 5 to 10 yards. Support hand, I absolutely suck. Been doing double action dry fire with a laser cartridge support hand only. Getting better, but still not good enough to waste ammo with it. I use 1 inch squares at 7 yards for a lot of my shooting, but I like the slightly larger target and slower pace on this drill.

S&W FPC in 9mm at 100 yards and then switching to 200 yards. The range finder on the Zulus HD 5-20 LRF sucks out at 200 yards. That is what I have been doing every day at lunch lately. Oh, you were doing 25 yards... isn't that knife throwing range? Ok Sig P938 in 9mm with Crimson Trace in CrossBreed Holster... and ya... I am faster. Peace Out.

If you can get groupings like that it tells me you are shooting TOO SLOW. You shoot as fast as you can where you are still able to get center mass hits with every round. If your targets are all 5 inches wide they are BAD TRAINING.

Take the optic off man…. Drill now hard with an optic. Let’s be honest. A lot of drills ain’t hard with an optic.
