@KieranGunnOfficial that's awesome, and very true, especially the corruption and politics part. I think boxing model just feels outdated and many fighters play it safe which makes boxing a bit boring imo. For me there is nothing that compares to the exciting of mma, and most importantly the big fights actually happen, they don't pad guys records, in the ufc the best fight the best, always. It still has some flaws like the gloves, eyepokes, bad judges/judging model but there's nothing like it, and even many boxing fans realize this and that you can be a fan of both sports!

Anderson Silva is truly one of the greatest combat athletes ever. He was not like the others, he was untouchable at times. He touches you, you can't touch him. He won't only be remembered for his skills in the octagon, but for the way he carried himself through his career, with respect and dignity. I truly hope he gets into coaching, there's so much young athletes could learn from a man like him. Let's not be sad that it's over, let's celebrate that it happened.

He was very touchable just not against maths teachers and fighters from the early 2000s like Forrest griffin. Chael sonnen must have dropped him 5 times. His best competition were guys If he fought somebody with solid boxing fundamentals do u really think he could just drop his hands and walk back jab koing everybody? Obviously not. Anderson Silva just had a style that made him look amazing when he was the better fighter. Whereas somebody like GSP will just dominate every level opponent more or less the same way, doesnt mean he’s better than gsp. As soon as strikeforce came over he was wiped out.

One overlooked aspect of Anderson’s career is that he made his ufc debut at 31 years old, he put together one of the greatest resumes in ufc history arguably all past his athletic prime because of fighting many years in other promotions. Undefeated in the ufc until 38, Khabib would have to fight for 6 more years to be 38 lol.

I now come here to see what Teddy said about mma fights. Never thought I'd do that but the new appreciation is like watching this blossoming stage of Teddy realizing, "Holy hell, what these fighters have to b aware of & trained in to succeed in this sport is mind blowing". While he doesn't have the knowledge of a joe rogan or some1 in this field, the man still knows combat & athletes who engage in combat sports & he still offers such beautiful views on the subject. I see a kid at xmas In his eyes now when he watches & speaks on mma, yet the wisdom of an older man who very much understands the concept. I know Teddy is a legend. This is why I love his new found appreciation for mma & love hearing what he has to say.

You know how you’ll google something and Wikipedia is wrong , and a younger person a try to argue you about it . You were actually alive during that moment , felt the vibe and the energy of the people when that moment happens . Teddy and all the elder statesmen/women the older people in our families are full of wonderful stories . Witnessed things that might not be in a book . They would for the most part love to tell you about their time . Just ask them and be patient and open to a conversation.

I remember watching Silva vs bonnar, Silva vs griffin, and Silva vs sonnen 1 and 2 live. I will always say, their is no fighter who could best Anderson in his prime. A part of my passion for this sport is gone now that the spider has left

It’s great to see someone Teddy, who is a legend in boxing, show respect for these mma guys, and appreciate how special these top fighters really are. When you talk about ‘fighters’...there’s no question a high level mma fighter is at the top of the food chain as far as ‘fighters’ go

The saddest thing about silva is that he clearly loves the sport, which I don't think can be said of everyone. Lots of guys are looking for the first door out and are more than happy to sit around for years between fights, but Anderson just wants to compete. Unfortunately his body was broken long ago.Ever since his first leg Injury its just been a cascade. And you know in his mind he still has the mindset from when he was champ, but he lost so many years on that injury and he didn't have that gradual fall that old guys get. It just happened instantly. And he never got to get back near the top again. Can't imagine how hard a reality that it.

Your passion for fighters of whatever discipline who go out there and put their lives on the line in the name of entertainment (and in the hope of one day, a substantial pay check) is second to none. My bucket list is pretty light (and some might say, shallow); but to be able to sit down and chat to you about boxing, life and your philosophy/psychology on these subjects would be near the top of my list. “Always be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of somebody else” Keep doing what you are doing Teddy, being YOU!!! ❤️👍🏼👊🏼

Usually after every UFC event I watch the post fight interviews, and I go to KZbin and watch and read fan reactions. But after last Saturday I did neither. I was depressed after watching one of the greatest MMA fighters go down the way he did. Teddy's words have given me comfort. Anderson Silva will always be the most dynamic and creative striker in MMA history. And nothing will ever change that.

Anderson Silvia was the first striker who didn’t have to really worry about takedown defense. He was always able to let his hands and feet go, clinch and throw knees without that scratching at the back of his mind that “what if I end up in a grappling fight.” It’s sad that he’s stuck around. Idk if it’s a money issue, or an ego issue. But, few greats walk away on their own. Teddy has seen this time and time again.

All true. When we get old, we have nowhere to go, and nowhere that we belong. Therefore, we must go home on our shield, or not at all. That’s why it is so important to develop a life outside of sports. Thanks for the video.

The way GSP, and Khabib are the messi and ronaldo , for me Anderson Silva is the ronaldinho of mma. An all time immortal, one of the goats, made me and I'm sure millions of others fall in love with the sport they did. Making it look easy as a breeze when at their peak. The SPIDER will forever be the best.

I would've loved to hear about how Leo was coming on, and had some extraordinary moments... even appeared to have Tank in shaky waters right before the KO... Additionally, I would've loved to hear more on the supreme class and sportsmanship that Tank showed immediately after such a dramatic finish... The respect he showed for the Santa Cruz family was definitely comment worthy...

ALWAYS Admired Teddy Atlas for his honesty and on point analysis of the dynamics of boxing and now mma. NO ONE captures the essence of what combat is all about in such a CORE, GUT LEVEL Manner like Teddy Atlas. No one comes close. This breakdown is truly epic and he's right. Warriors like Silva will always be LIONS till the day they close their eyes and take that rest and go back home to their creator. Silva was something to see in his prime and To this day I haven't seen anyone come close to replicating that level of skill that translated into Superiority, like Silva did.
