Canelo thought is was an easy fight. Didn't study Bivols fight videos. Used the wrong technic on the Jabber. Canelo can still beat him changing his technic he got much more power can KO him with body shots
Canelo to me almost broke mentally because he saw that he couldn’t “get” Bivol and it frustrated him, all the while he’s catching 2-3 hits to the face. It was crazy to see because we are all used to seeing Canelo be a beast in the ring. But it’s honestly a nice thing to see because I want Canelo to recognize that he’s only human and not invincible.

I found it suspect how all judges had the same scores, but I think the reason it changed after the 5th round is because that was the round Bivol landed his big flurry on Canelo and had him against the ropes. There was no way they could say that wasn’t a Bivol round. I think the crowd could have influenced the judges too. They were cheering like crazy every time Canelo threw a punch let alone landed one. That’s why the judges for the Whyte - Fury fight were wearing noise canceling headphones. I noticed a change the crowd after the 5th round too when it became too obvious Bivol was winning. I think the judges could have gone into the fight expecting Canelo to win and scored accordingly.

What Teddy stated about footwork I saw immediately in Bivol. I observed in the 1st and 2nd round that Bivol was planting his feet at certain distances, so it was clear he was aware of where he needed to be. Bivol is a smaller fighter in his weight class, so he has always tended to stay away from big power punchers in regard to the strategy. Canelo has one of the highest boxing IQ's and knew what to do (what Teddy stated) but he just didn't do it and believed he would catch Bivol with a good punch at some point. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't.

Canelo was discouraged. The 300 amateur fights Bivol had helped, he's a well oiled machine. There's going to be a skill/athleticism gap between the two that no amount of magic (tacos) is going to help. Bivol will forever be a puzzle Canelo's not going to much like. Hat's off to Dimitry, he's a very humble, but confident operator. I called this one months ago in the Ring Magazine Mailbag, where not a single pro there picked Bivol, I hope he gets more respect in a rematch.

Teddy, Ken, thank you both for keeping it 💯 👌. Yes, we're beyond the point of being frustrated with these judges. Christ, I've been personally frustrated since 1987, Hagler v Leonard. But this shit with Canelo is by far the worst in boxing history. At least with guys like Leonard, he earned his way up the ranks. Canelo has not only been getting judge's assistance his entire career, but he also throws these weight restrictions on opponents crippling them before they even get in the ring. And I'm not stupid, I understand these fighter's agree to it to get career high paydays but that type of dishonesty hurts the legacy of every fighter to ever come up the ranks. Cuz now you got morons like that DAZN announcer, Manix putting Canelo in ATG talks, when legitimate fans know he's just an average fighter, with average skills. There are a couple things I'm waiting for Teddy to talk about in regards to these fixed fights. First, the obvious, WEIGHT MANIPULATION. I don't think your casual fan understand how significant these weight classes are and how crippling it can be when a fighter is asked to enter the ring under a hydration clause. History has shown us when a fighter goes up in weight, then drops back down, even after one fight, his career is ruined. Examples, Roy Jones and Kell Brook. Other than Porter dropping to a catch weight to fight Broner I can't think of any other fighter that has overcome this obstacle. Unless you count GGG over Jacob's, when Jacob's refused that same day weigh in and had 32 hours to rehydrate where GGG didn't. I think Jacob's had a 20lb weight advantage entering the ring that night. Dont forget, Ward told Jacob's to do that. Abel Sanchez knew, and instructed GGG to ignore the body, target the head. Go back and watch. So you look at the 13 opponents Canelo fought between Floyd and Bivol, not counting GGG and those 13 guy's all fought under some weight restriction. What, you think that Kovalev fight was on the level? Laughable. Even C level Chávez Jr and Rocky Fielding were forced into a hydration clause and catch weight scenario. Pathetic. And this guy is your p4p #1? Stop it...How many other fighter's on the p4p list besides Fury have been busted for PEDs and uses weight restrictions to beat other fighter's? I'll wait....thats what I thought. The second thing I'd like Teddy to talk about when fixing these fights are these NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENTS Team Canelo makes these guys sign. If you've ever been any type of fighter, wrestler, MMA, BJJ, ETC...You know the significance of making weight and you know when you see fighter's after the fight with significant bicep bruises, you know that's a clear sign of dehydration. And now go back and look at some of Canelo opponents and tell me you don't see it. Smith, Saunders, Chavez, go look. So when the media started asking about these hydration clause, catch weights, That 155 Canelo weight, team Canelo started in with these NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENTS, removing that talking point from the media. More bull shit that every KZbin boxing channel ignores because none of them are fighter's, none of them know that these small details all add up to the fix. I personally thought Bivol was going to be robbed on those cards because his fight IMO looked exactly like the first GGG fight. Wasn't even close. Part I don't get is why? I know its about the money but a GGG win brings in more money because a Canelo loss doesn't remove his Mexican fan base. It only makes them cheer harder for their fighter. I know this won't change, I'm just glad Teddy is blowing this shit up because other channels out there just go along with the judges instead of thinking for themselves. Right, Ring IQ?
@EyesArePlanets2 жыл бұрын
Interesting post, which seems knowledgeable. Thanks for sharing. Never heard of bicep bruises before. Also, not clear on the hydration clauses. Guessing Canelo allowed to hydrate earlier and the opponent isn't?

I wouldn't say a myth. Its like youre making out canelo is a tomato can whos only fought tomato cans, i think he found his limit and that right their, is why there is weight divisions.
@markgriffinphoto2 жыл бұрын
No I’m not saying he fought “tomato cans” He clearly fought many champions but some not all got in the ring beaten already and he had this aura building. Many fighters dismissed Bivol, even some that had never even seen him fight. Bernard Hopkins made a ludicrous prediction/stupid. Bottomline, he was beaten by a superior boxer who was not afraid of his power. Bivol did not even load up in the fight while Canelo threw the heavier punches so weight was not a factor. Canelo landed maybe 10 clean shots all night. Hardly a mark on Bivol compared to Canelo. Classic puncher vs boxer! I’d like to see him forget 175 pounders or cruiser weights and go back to 168 and take on all comers.

It’s funny how Teddy says that he didn’t give Bivol’s camp anything that they didn’t already know, then goes on to drop Jewels and a perfect game plan on how to beat Canelo. It’s great that you are humble Teddy but they wouldn’t have mentioned you if your weren’t vital to them.
@philap20352 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but anyone who's been around boxing for a while can see how to beat Canelo. It just takes a very rarely skilled fighter. There just aren't that many master boxers with length and athleticism to give him problems.
@HilariousStandUpClips2 жыл бұрын
I honestly feel like canelo didn’t expect Bivol to throw so much at him. I don’t feel like he got beat up but he spent so much time ducking and dodging he got fatigued quick. He spent so much time on defense after round 5 he had almost nothing on his punches. Bivols game plan was great and he stayed disciplined. Absolutely perfect fight from Bivol. But Canelo looked gassed early because Bivols attack and using so much energy on defense.

Bivol executed the game plan perfectly. He worked the jab all night and did not allow Canelo to get settled in the later rounds. I was skeptical if Bivol would be able to keep up the pace in the later rounds but he nailed it. He is a disciplined boxer who did not get too carried away with the flurries, he just stuck to his fundamentals. Canelo looked gassed in the later rounds, he basically had to fight from behind in the score cards but couldn’t really land the body shots. Bivol’s arms absorbed all the blows, he guarded himself well.
@josephknecht42722 жыл бұрын
Jab and distance-control, exactly what GGG (out of his prime) did in the second fight against Canelo (at his all time career peak). That is why GGG won that second fight 117-112 (same score as Teddy Atlas).

Yes everyone knwos GGG beat Clenelo TWICE w his amazing Jab but Clenelo fangirls say" jab is trash and didn't fight Mexican style "🥴🥴
@californio18502 жыл бұрын
GGG tried to jab his way out of the Mexican style fight he called for but only ended up taking more damage with Canelo hammering his head and body throughout. It's ridiculous to compare that to this fight. Point blank, Canelo beat GGG at his own game and by his own standards with his own trainer saying he deserved the win.

I’ve watched several Canelo fights. It appears to me that he gets tired in the later rounds just about in every fight. When he’s faced with a fundamentally sound fighter with a chin he’s had problems. If he were in Spence’s or Crawford’s weight class, they’d destroy him! I know that I’m right about that!

They could move up and fight him? They could fight in those divisions he fought in? Spence would get smoked, Crawford I'm not entirely sure about

Ugas rocked him hard maybe 3 times with single shots that he didn't follow up on
@californio18502 жыл бұрын
Lol what? Canelo is a former welterweight himself yet fought all the way up to 175. Spence gets tagged flush and doesn't have the chin to follow in his path moving up that many divisions. Spence might very well get KO'd by current GGG after seeing him get staggered up by Ugas at 147. Meanwhile Canelo looked more sluggish than normal vs Bivol with the extra weight on his frame.
@michaelwozniak1832 жыл бұрын
Well Jim, I got to tell you that I had the majority of rounds for Dmitry Bivol, giving maybe a few rounds to Canelo for good measure. You know Jim, Dmitry dominated the entire fight with his furious one-two combination from the start and also by utilizing basic footwork to take advantage of his size. One thing that surprised me was that Bivol had the quicker hands. I also liked how Bivol kept his entire body covered during the fight. If Sergey Kovalev could not convince Canelo Alveraze that he does not have the size for Light Heavyweight than Bivol was able to provide him with a compelling argument. You know Jim, weight classes are more than about weight. It is about size and leverage. I admire Canelo's ambition, but ultimately, he will accomplish more and have a longer career if he moves down in weight where he belongs. Be that as it may, 10-2 Bivol.

I'm totally behind Ken and Teddy mentioning Canelo's drug test failures - I've no problem with that. And in part, that's why I don't respect him as much as I should given his incredible record. However, you need to be even handed about this. Teddy mentioned Tyson Fury as the new face of boxing. Well, if he is, I want further scrutiny of Fury's drug test failures. He received a 2-year ban for it, though I believe it should have been longer, and I don't accept that his fraudelent behaviour was linked to a mental health problem. I've very low standards for respecting athletes. Try hard. Don't cheat. Behave like a good person.
@rstevens77112 жыл бұрын
@Owen Davis That's not true is it? Here's part of the statement issued by UKAD and Tyson and Hughie Fury... 'The proceedings have therefore been resolved on the following basis: the anti-doping rule violations based on the reported presence of elevated levels of nandrolone metabolites are upheld...' Fury is a drug cheat.

Out of complete respect I believe the eyes are the window to the Soul, DC vs stipe I believe or maybe vs Jon Jones. DC has a moment on the bench where he asked did I lose the round (he previously had not lost a round at that weight class) and in his eyes you could see that he didn’t believe in himself unconditionally and in my opinion signaled the loss.
