because it's literally part of the original song, from the movie Pitch Perfect 2. The performance started off with an entire section of that snapping/clapping/hand rubbing thing. Sorry to hear it bothers you, but it makes it an accurate cover as part of the beat. Personally, I find the sound similar to rustling cloth. not a common sound effect, but not cringe-worthy either.
