Upgraded from 12 Pro to 16 Pro and right away I was amazed of the camera out of the box right away. I noticed that 16 Pro also makes me edit less on lightroom which saves some of my time due to the colour science being so true to life and just so crisp whether it being any lenses.So happy I made my purchase

Your LUTs work great with me shooting on my 16 pro using the Kino app. I don’t know if you intended using them on a video, but they work great. I love my 16 pro, definitely a step up from my 14.

The new Ultrawide performs worse than the outgoing version. It is noisy and inconsistent with it's results. Many channels are panning this new lense. I would be a little wary of any review that does not mention this.

Yes, that's very subtle difference. The biggest camera improvement IMO is from iPhone 8/X series to Xs series

This is a great comparison video, particularly for those of us who do a lot of photography with their iPhones. I've noticed a lot of what you mention and it's why I've been surprisingly happy with the 16 PM. Only difference is that I have actually really enjoyed the camera control button, more than I expected to. Especially when using it with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid T or Supcase cases, as those have built in control button covers. When I am outdoors I find it's much easier to access and navigate the camera using the camera control button (and I do a lot of my photography outside). YMMV, but for me the camera control button has been surprisingly helpful (and I thought it was totally gimmicky when it first came out).

Impressive comparison. 16 Pro does look better overall and the colors do seem more accurate. Still, if already you have a 15 Pro, unless you make a living blogging, it's probably not worth the money to upgrade. iPhones hold up now longer than ever.

Personally I’d go for the iPhone 16 pro as skin tones are very important to me for a point and shoot tool for family and interviews. I liked the warm tones of the 15 better but the “skin wash” is irritating in comparison😂

Phone cameras will always be just that. It’s great that they are getting better. They are convenient. But the best photos will always be a full sized camera whether it be one with interchangeable lenses or a hybrid. I have both. However I do find it more convenient for a phone when i am out walking for exercise. You can always edit a photo. People should just buy what they want and can afford. Then develop their photo editing skills.

I’m upgrading from an iPhone 12. Just the regular 12 not a pro. And I was contemplating on between the 16 pro max and 15 pro max. I found the iPhone 12 photos to be very washed out. It looks like the iPhone 15 pro max is more saturated, which I like. Is the upgrade to the 15 pro max significantly better than the 12 or should I hold off little while longer for another year? Also price is a factor for me too. So the 15 would be more affordable but is the image quality significantly better?

I upgraded from the regular 12 to the 15 pro max a couple of months ago. I thought about getting the 16 pro max but the differences between the 15 and 16 are so small compared to recent years. I still get Apple Intelligence, the cameras are basically the same, USB-C, and the titanium frame. You can pick up a 15 pro max from $800-$900 compared to the 16 Pro for $1100-$1200.

Hey excellent video! Just wanna say i also was freakin’ annoyed by the quick camera, so you can actually set it to require two clicks to launch camera app and change the force required to click. Ever since i did that, i stopped accidentally opening camera app. Also, in the recent 18.2 ios update, they automatically toggled everyone’s phones to make camera button not work while screen is off. For me, that defeats the purpose of it, so i disabled that. That’s my suggestions for a bit more user friendliness with that button. Great video!

What pisses me off about retint to get into basic photography as an amateur is that you never know if you are on the best camera settings for a pic. You never know how much lighting is the right one to get a wonderful sh0t. You never know how much warmth, saturation, brightness, contrast. How the f can one decide ? I just take 1 photo trying 5 to 7 different overall configurations. But I have no way of knowing what’s the best one. It’s so hard.

Tbh its almost strange how I'm a videographer with a sony a7siii yet the camera on my phone has never influenced my actual purchasing decision at all. I do not even think about it when buying, I think of the battery life foremost. I think it could be that once phone cameras became okay enough, it has never mattered whats new because I always get okay images/videos out of them. Could be both devices excel in different areas kind of like instead of having 1 high end pc for gaming & productivity you have a gaming console & productivity focused laptop. You no longer expect the other device to also excel at the other things your other device does. I think I use my phone camera for documenting memories in a rudimentary sense rather a photographic approach. When I'm really trying to be photographic/cinematic i do that on my a7siii. I think that has given me a balanced sense of expectations for each of the cameras & therefore less disappointment. I get it for some people expect much more from such expensive phones however at some point the battle against physics becomes impossible without resorting to trickery & illusions.

Vivo for photos by some margin, but IPhone for videography and software quality and optimization and after purchase tech support. To go from an IPhone 16 Pro Max to a Vivo X200 Pro would not be the best leap in my opinion. Unless you actually live in China that is.

When Apple says things like “it’s like having seven pro lenses in your pocket” and uses it as a cinematic camera to record music videos for the weekend, they purposefully try show it as a replacement for pro level camera gear. It’s not, it’s misleading, and the camera quality it’s just not close to or as versatile as a camera and lenses. By using advertising it as all those things they are making a similar comparison themselves.

@ I’m talking about both. From my experience, they both have terrible glass. Honor Magic 7 Pro, for exemple, has much better optics, with better anti glare coating. In what concerns to sensors, the sensor equipped with the telephoto lens is almost 1 inch size, great for minimalism and portraits. The 7 iPhone lens elements seem to be made out of plastic!
