Heartwarming to see the work of a legit legend like Naseer sahab getting his due on a global stage like Cannes. This feels like a personal triumph, and a triumph for Indian cinema in general. And the FHF is doing God's work! They are a boon to Indian cinema, and this is not a hyperbolic statement. This is the best interview from Cannes so far! ❤

The fact that Beer Biceps has been invited to Cannes before Naseer Saab is pure tragedy.

Agree with you. Mr. Naseer is more deserving.

How sad that legends are ignored non actors like Sonam Kapoor push their way to Cannes. Please let this platform remain film festival and not fashion parade. Love you both Naseer and Ratna.

Ain't it too late now... 🤔 All kinds of clowns are invited now. Seeing R and N is a fresh breath of air.

That is not Savita Bajaj. Please don’t Google film cast and copy-paste whatever photos you get. It would take just a couple of minutes to find the right person’s face and photo.

This was actually quite moving. I’m so glad we finally have people like Mr Dungarpur with the passion needed to take the helm of projects like this. I also loved how honest Naseeruddin Shah was about his involvement in the film. He didn’t try to make it seem like he knew how important the film was at the time. He’s a legend but is almost self-deprecating. And I really like how complimentary he was of all the other artists. Thank you for this interview. I hope to be able to watch Manthan at some point.

Let's discus Shyam Babu's works in a series of episodes, @Filmcompanion. We need to honor these talented, passionate, wonderful human beings. I want to show Shyam Babu that we value his contribution to the cinema and to India. 🙂 Can you guys do something about it ??

He did in another interview at Cannes. It's impossible to rattle of all names in an interview setting at the best of times let alone when you're 74.

Unpopular opinion but I'll say it anyway. Always found Naseer to be hammy in most of his films with only a handful of films where he's not super reherased and over the top. Second, he always comes across as someone who craves the fame of a star but sees commercial cinema as inferior. If he has such negative view of commercial cinema, he should understand that he cannot reach larger audiences. Just because it's sad and dark, it doesn't become good cinema! Most people don't want to watch daily misery. Perhaps that's why more foreigners watch this kind of grim cinema. And I'm off to watch Madgaon Express on Prime.

Naseeruddin Shah is the only Indian actor who has contributed in the growth of Indian cinema and theater in a way no actor has ever done. He is doing theaters, movies, short movies, series and teaching as well. He is such a brilliant actor and a legend any movie industry has ever produced. I love to hear his stories and experiences, I find them very honest. I am always curious about him and want to see him more in movies and OTT.
