Interview with Ranveer Singh | Padmaavat | Anupama Chopra

A day after the release of Padmaavat, actor Ranveer Singh talks about how how he got into the headspace of playing an evil character like Alauddin Khilji. It took three weeks of alone time, a diet of red meat and lifting weights to make him play the character convincingly. He also speaks about why this was the most fun he's had filming with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and constructively channeling the rage he felt when the film ran into trouble.

Amrita S In Film Making, process is price ONLY when Director is good. If director is not in his right sense, we get to see the price as disasters at box office. Many actors really work hard for their project still it fails because of poor execution of script. Ranveer is lucky so far, hopefully in his upcoming projects too he will be lucky 😊

radha iyer this has been the bright phase of ranveer, with the main proponent of it being the three hits of bhansali cinema,starting with ram-leela to now padmavati. Post lootera, ranveer hasn't really proved his success with anyone else apart from bhansali, for that with all of his career considered by far( not to say that he isn't talented or he's incapable of that). Just that it hasn't been proved by far. Take away bhansali from his career trajectory and there's hardly anything that he can bank on for body of work. that hasn't been the case with ranbir,however. He has done it with multiple directors, in varied genres of cinema and roles by far. He has had the perfect mix of critically acclaimed and commercial work throughout his career. As we move into this year further, he s definitely going to add a blockbuster to his kitty which is the Dutt biopic. Talent: Ranbir=Ranveer( ranbir a bit more as he s proved himself through a broader range). Success: Ranbir>Ranveer. the next couple of years are truly going to interesting, as it'll be seen as to how ranveer moves on with life post brand bhansali, and ranbir utilizing the momentum that he garners post the roaring success of Dutt bipoic and with chances to prove himself in the larger-than-life genre with Bramhastra(a genre where ranveer has the upper hand).

Rockstar and barfi, completely different kinds of roles, with the only commonality between them being that they were experimental. I made effort to look at background of this guy because i really want to see Padmavat. As a non Indian it is very interesting to see rendering of Indian culture, art, romance, myth, religious themes. I am shocked there was any question that this Ranveer would be a major film star. He is so well spoken, smart, articulate, has handle on things, very masculine and radiates a film quality. One early interview for 1st movie Band Baaja Baarat asked something about his looks are not what is required for Indian film star? I don’t get it.

"Diwali cleansing of your aura" -it indeed reflects of ranveer at the moment, of the satisfaction about the way he's felt the creativity for his craft. Glad that he entered the grind with a motive, only to achieve more than that for himself,and for the character in turn,by harnessing it. Gotta watch the movie though.

Watched on a very cold morning at 11 am in Canada and the whole theatre was full of Afghans, Pakistanies, and Indians... Thankfully I was there 30 mins early to get a good seat....will watch it again next week, hopefully less crowded!!! Loved Ranveer❤️
