I foolishly thought their announcement of “winter 2025” meant Jan-Mar release 💀 I’ve seen some anime announcements just a few months before their release so I figured that would be possible, but I suppose December makes more sense. Just found this from a reddit comment: “When Japanese properties announce something for the Winter, it only means the beginning of the year if what they are annoucing is a TV show following the regular seasonal patterns of Japanese TV. When it's a movie or some kind of special, "Winter" always means the end of the year.” Kinda goofy imo but good to know I suppose

Tbf i just assume its December because if it was February or March they would have shown... well, something more then just that one picture at this point (and also I think they would've precise right away instead of just vaguely saying winter 2025 when we are right in the middle of winter)

Interestingly, the only anime movie that I'm aware of coming out over here is The Colors Within (A Silent Voice) that's out later this month. Otherwise the rest are only released in Japan and would've mentioned a Hatsune Miku movie too! 😅

@ras_732 oh I forgot about that movie featuring Miku! There's also AOT: The Last Attack hitting US theaters only on Feb. 11. Definitely not "new" as it's a compilation of the last two specials in 5.1 surround, but I'm still super excited to see it in a theater because it very much deserves that treatment.

I have read Klara and the Sun. The book is a masterpiece, and I am also not a Taika hater, but he is just not right for it. I would want someone like Denis Villeneuve or Steven Spielberg directing.

I agree that Taika Waititi is an odd choice for director. I personally think that the story would be better handled by flimmakers like Chloe Zhao, Ava DuVernay or Celine Song.

My goal is to watch 70 movie releases in the movie theater by the end of this year! My top five most highly anticipated movies of this year are One of them Days, Sinners, the Michael Jackson biopic, 28 Years Later and Avatar: Fire and Ash.
