A true masterpiece in every facet, one of my favorite series I've ever reacted to, I'd like to thank you all so much for watching, and eventually we'll be doing more Arcane down the line, which will be something else, that's for sure. The words Silco says before his death are most certainly true. When he spoke to Vanders statue, it revealed to us that he now understood what it means to love someone like a daughter, to have something you're willing to give up everything for. Silco is such a good villain, and his death made me sob ;;

The undercity has become the monster that Piltover created, Victor is becoming a monster of his own creation, Hextech is the monster that Jayce and Viktor created, Jayce is the monster that Mel created, Piltover is the monster that Heimerdinger created, Shimmer is the monster that Singed created, Silco was the monster that Vander created, Jinx is the monster that everyone created.

According to the show, Heimerdinger was alive for the Rune Wars (which is a whole thing, and also breaks the current canon because heimer wasn't born until around 680 AN and the rune wars occurred from 25-3 BN, but that's besides the point), so it's entirely understandable that he would be terrified of magic. The rune wars almost completely destroyed all pre-existing civilization

She’s been pretending to chase her monsters away for the sake of others all her life. But her monsters never left. That scream was when they all caught up with her. Literally in Jinx’s case.

I do believe Silco understood Jinx far better than Vi. Vi only ever saw the memory of Powder, failing to realize that Jinx was someone different now - that Jinx couldn't even recognize Powder in herself anymore much less return to being her. Silco accepted Jinx for who and what she was, without judgment. I think, when Jinx said "I thought maybe you could love me, like you used to." what she meant is that she wanted Vi to love her as Jinx the Person, rather than Powder the Memory. In Jinx' mind, Vi calling her Powder and refusing to acknowledge her as Jinx, meant that Vi loved the memory of who she used to be, more than who she was now.

In episode 1 Powder causes chaos in Piltover with the Arcane crystal by pure accident. In episode 3 she tries to use the crystal to save her family and friends but it ends in tragedy. In the final episode she embraces her new side and uses the Arcane to start a war

tbh war is not the only outcome... Silco would have been tye one that wanted war but he's dead. the Chem-Barons couldn't care less about Silco's Ideals especially after he had 1of them killed. Savika will not be able to bring the Chem-Barons under her control, Likewise Jinx will not follow Savika either. the main focus for Zaun Silco is dead the Snake has lost its head... Mostly so has the Piltovan council... Jayce & Viktor at this point in the story are I doubt under any danger of dying both of them are LoL Champions sooooooo the risk to them is minimal... tbh even Caitlyn's mother has a degree of Plot Armour for later but could go either way!

So you know the voice actor did a interview where he explained what silco meant when he said that line. Paraphrasing here but. Jinx is perfect. She embodies everything zaun stands for. So he was being truly honest. He never would have given her up because in silcos eyes jinx IS zaun. Jinx is everything silco fought for.

Jinx is surrounded by the ghosts of her past, who watch her in judgement, but after Silco's final words validate and accept her, she takes the time to turn Silco around before she sits down. I love that little detail. He isn't a tormenting ghost. He becomes her 'positive' motivation, instead. My fav 3 characters are actually Silco, Viktor, and Jinx.

I remember the voice actor of Silco saying that Silco saw Zaun within Jinx. All the madness and imperfections, being perfect, the imbodiment of Zaun. He didnt give up his dream for Jinx, Jinx is his dream.

They were going to have a Vi/Jinx fight in this episode, but they just couldn't make it work from a narrative perspective. Thus, they went with the tea party scene, instead, and I think that was absolutely the best call.

I think a fight would specifically undermine the core themes of the show, honestly. Even though the opening credit sequence creates that expectation in the audience's mind, subverting it with that insanely tense tea party scene is just so much more powerful from a narrative standpoint. We got the fight sequence between Vi and Sevika to fill that void, and to establish how empty and fruitless Vi's strategy of "punch first and ask questions later" truly is.

"Don't cry. You're perfect" And with a single line spoken, Silco won the heart of the entire fanbase and became a contester for best character alongside Jinx. These two damaged individuals had the best dinamic and I didn't expect to like them as much as I did.

Silco had the ability to create a new country, something he and Vander had failed and countless had died for.i He gave it up for his daughter. His finale actions were to try and NOT add to the her trauma. It's hard not to feel for a father with that level of devotion.

I will say, Silco is the most controversial character in Arcane. I've seen so many interpretations and debates on his character, actions, and relationships. It's so interesting to see how reactors react to him. They either love him or hate him. They're either happy with his death or crying their eyes out. Personally, I love Silco. I wasn't sure if he could live up to his own ideal of loyalty in the end, but I'm glad to see they kept his character consistent.

I would even say, Vi hitting Powder moment is more controversial. It is like 50/50 divide. Almost everyone is sad in the Silco scene, yet understands he isn't a good person. There is a decent amount of debate if his approach to parenting Jinx was healthy or not (it was not imo), but I think there are more controversial characters and scenes in Arcane.

@@patrikneperfekta7575 There certainly is controversy around the events of episode 3. Whether Vi or Powder were justified in their actions or not. Big controversy. The difference between that and Silco though, is that the punch and subsequent trauma was one event. Silco is an entire character. Every one of his actions throughout the show changes based on interpretation. That's why I think he's more controversial. But that's just me. I will say I've seen quite a few reactions. Dozens, even. And maybe 1 out of every five is happy when Silco dies. I agree his parenting approach was not good though. Lol Personally, I think Silco is the perfect example of Permissive Parenting. Supportive, but does not enforce rules or consequences. He had absolutely no boundaries with Jinx.

I get where you're coming from but I'd say it's Jinx who is the most controversial character. You could argue on each and every action of hers whereas with Silco you only have a very tiny minority who think he was pure evil/pure good. Everyone mostly agrees he had good motives and bad means.

Silco knew he was dying when he said his last words. He's touched death before, and he knows its embrace better than almost anyone...and he knew this time there was no reprieve. And in those final moments, when he knew there was nothing for him to gain, and nothing for him to lose...he chose words not for himself, and not for spite, but to comfort a girl he'd raised, in her time of grief. To, above all, let her know that it's not her fault, and that she's loved without reservation. Silco was not a good person, and his methods horrendously cruel, but his cause was true, and just. Silco was not necessarily a good father, but he treated Jinx far better than most fathers treat their children, and his love was not twisted or insincere. He wasn't at all a good man, but he was an absolutely fantastic character, and a phenomenal "villain". "I never would've given you to them, not for anything. Don't cry. You're perfect."

There’s a video by a KZbinr named Schnee that says that Silco sees Jinx as the embodiment of Zaun, and his final words were to cement that, so Jinx would begin the war. His words, not mine. But I think your interpretation is brilliant as well.

@@jacksondavies3595 this isn't just what he thought it's based on the interview from silcos voice actor. Pretty sure he throws the clip in there too. He probably knows this because I would assume the director told them their motivations. Given how much emotion goes into the lines not just these but all the lines in the show. The voice actors and actresses likely knew these characters best and just how tragic they all are.

Yeah, it's gonna be very difficult to set a new bar after what they've achieved with the first season. I hope most people will keep their expectations in check and maintain a little bit doubt in there too- just so they won't be overly disappointed if it turns out that the 2nd season isn't as good. Jinx embracing who she is at the end works so well as they have been hinting this is what would happen. As far back as the first scene of the show, the scratched-out eyes and scribbles, which have represented Powder's mental instability and trauma, have been there ever since her parents died on the bridge. It has influenced how she saw the world and even what she did, such as inspiring the designs for her machines. A part of Jinx has always been with Powder, lurking underneath the surface. The core desire of her character is to be loved and accepted by those she cares for. Vi loves Powder, but cannot accept Jinx. Silco gave her both love and acceptance, twisted as it was, but at the price of never trying to be a better person. After all, if someone can love and accept Jinx, why would she go back to being Powder?

I think it is wrong direction for Vi try to "fix" Jinx into Powder. Jinx is a grown young women with her own ideals, belives and regrets (everything what make her Jinx). She simply cant reverse to be a 12 old year girl (Powder) again. Does that mean her "Jinx" state set in stone? Nope. People change and Jinx could change too in someone new - not Powder and not Jinx. This should be a purporse for Vi - help her sister to find a new way in life

Jinx shooted SILCO in "self-defense" ==> She shooting people when she feels threatened ==> Ep4 "fake Vi" Ep6 feeling replaced => she start shooting in rage with "no intention of murder" Ep9 we get visualization of her mental breakdown(also reckless attitude to death), it's metaphor of bot side city sickness (eye of Silco) and her action with big gun it's metaphor of bot side city rage. Piltover won't fight city of Zaun (bot side) but probably Noxus will join ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I absolutely believe Silko as well, because he even admits to Vander's statue while he is alone (or thinks he is alone) how Jayce offered him everything he wanted and he is not sure if he can take it if it means turning in Jinx and that makes it clear just how much Jinx means to him. I mean the line "Is there anything more undoing than a daughter?" makes it as clear as it can be.

What's sad is that Jinx honed in on him saying "and what do I lose but problems?" as meaning he was gonna sell her out; when his follow-up of "Oh, it all makes sense now, brother. Is there anything more undoing than a daughter?" clearly is indicative of him NOT doing that - Vi and Powder were nothing but constant problems for Vander as well, but now Silco gets why Vander still cherished and protected them: because he loved them like daughters, and true love is unconditional...the kind of unconditional Silco showed Jinx when even after she's killed him, he uses the last of his strength to tell her "Don't cry. You're perfect."

You'd be surprised, but I recently watched a reactor who said Jayce is his favourite character. His words, Jayce was being pulled in every direction, an idealist that was thrown into a world that was too big for him, but he consistently came back to what mattered to him - Victor, Caitlyn, Mel, and helping people. In the end, he decided to make his own decision, and follow only his heart.

The thing that's blows my mind about Arcane is that it's literally flawless - I can literally not think of a single piece of substantial criticism that can be levied against any aspect of it. The animation, the voice acting, the writing... it's all top quality, with not a second wasted on unnecessary filler. Oh, and the season is a complete story in itself; if they never make another season (which they are already doing, but anyway) it doesn't matter: they already did everything they needed to do. And all this in an age where big budget showrunners and scriptwriters don't seem to give a shit about putting together shows or movies with coherent, logical storylines. Other shows shit all over their source material, with no respect for the fans or the original characters - this one elevates its source material by several degrees of magnitude. Who would have imagined that a League of Legends property would be the best piece of media in the last two decades?

One of the rare people who considers Silco to be #1. Shark is totally right! It might be because I really tend to love villain characters when they're portrayed well (Slade, Belos, Andrias to name a few), but Silco's writing is amazing. He does villainous things like manipulation of the people around him (even Jinx), but all for a good cause. He is used so well and every scene that he is in follows the same vibe of control. Match that with the way he runs the undercity, while taking full control, lives up to his goal of reducing abuse from enforcers. All of this is nailed home in the tea party scene where he dies. And I know I'm going off topic, but Silco's death was written perfectly, as Silco in the entire second act of the show tried to get Jinx to move on from the demons of her past by "killing Powder". Thing is while it seemed like it was okay at first, the moment Sevika mention Vi, Powder was still able to come back. When Jinx, killed Silco though and Silco's last words being uttered managed to finally kill Powder. All in the spot where Silco first found Powder. It really does come full circle. Now we end the season with Vi and Jinx's relationship shattered. Leaving us to ponder, "What could've been."

Jinx has actually been a detriment to the cause of Silco for a lot of season 1, like Silco said in ep 4 "today's screw up will set us back weeks" his manipulation of Jinx is there but unintentional, and a desperate attempt not to lose her to Vi as she's the only person that could take his daughter from him (like Jinx would only rather be with Vi and nobody else more than Silco) So his manipulation is often for his cause, but when it comes to jinx it's not to lose his family.

Vi's shield ability you saw is her passive. The passive of Jinx is "get excited" giving her movement and attack speed you saw when she knocked Caitlyn out.

I kinda think maybe you have it a little backwards. The fact that Silco loved Jinx doesn't change the fact that he manipulated her, lied to her, gaslighted her, isolated her, and used her. If he really had her best interests at heart, he would have tried to reunite her with what remained of the community of people she knew before Vander died (like Ekko). He would have made every effort to see to it that she was surrounded by people who truly did care about her. But he did none of that, and we should never forget that. And thanks to that, she ended up a murderous sociopath.

My theory about who survives in the council chamber is: jace has a hextech shield of some kind (we have seen it on him in ep8) Victor is saved by the hexcore somehow Mel is a maybe for me but if she survives I think it’s her golden marking (this might be a Referenz to an ingame item that gives a shield) Also from a Storytelling perspective it Victor and Jayce don’t have a completed character arc. Mel may or may not have a completed arc depending on how you look at it.

The literal first words out of my mouth upon the last shot of this final episode: *in shock* "......She fuckin' jinxed it....." But no, like seriously. She spent her whole adult life trying to fight against that new name, in some small way or another. She took it on, but some small part of her believed in Powder; the old her that Vi used to have faith in. But it was this moment, in this final episode, where she truly was a "jinx". She decided to take on the name just in time for it to actually be true. She jinxed the peace that Silco had spent decades trying to create, and she didn't even know it. ....That is genius writing - and I can understand why it took numerous years to create this series, because the true mastery of it shows how much time and dedication the animators and creators put into it.

Beautiful reaction, Shark. Long awaited. I just wanted to say something: she didn't shot them both. Silco was about to shot Vi, to defend Jinx (since Vi was both the one that could take her away from him, and the one that was causing her a violent panic attack, although unknowingly). In a fit of pure instinct, Jinx then shot Silco, to protect Vi. As to prove that, you can see that If Jinx hadn't distracted Silco, Vi would have been shot right in the head (instead, the shot deviated slightly at her right). It can't be a coincidence that Silco's chair had multiple shots, while Vi's chair only had one. Then, when Jinx realized what she did, It was already too late. At least that's what I read, and It's what I want to believe, because It would ran beautifully with everything we know about this characters. I also believe that Silco was completely honest in his last moments. As Joker put, you can understand how someone truly is by watching him in his last moments. I also loved what someone else said somewhere else: Powder's last action was to k!ll Silco to save Vi. Jinx's first action after his death, was to search revenge in his behalf.

This is the first time I've rewatched this since the initial and wtf!! This finale is so so pack tight god this show is incredible, and leaves so much potential for the future!! Watching this now, I think the highlighting of Mel was indication of her certain death, she was the closest one to the bomb while Jayce and Victor are on the other side of the table, If she dies, while Jayce was in the process of not choosing war, then his love be murdered, just in time with Mel's mom to manipulate him and stoke his fire against the undercity Driving a wedge between him and Victor, not to mention there's nooo way he's destroying that hexcore now Not to mention Heimerdinger and Ekko squaded up to develop more advanced tech for the firelights, Victor going back to the Doctor now that Silco's gone, the threats from Noxus interjecting into this war, there's so much to look forward to in this series, I'm glad you reacted to it and got as invested as so many others, always great to see these likeminded content creators appreciate these shows

Great reaction, its been fun to follow you along. Vi did not unlock a special move, though :) The gauntlets were made for mining. Falling stones one of the greatest hazards when working in a mine, so a protective stance (your guard needs work) and something falling from above (like a stone or a jumping Sevika) would trigger this. Vi never really protected herself while fighting, so after listening to Vander (and Ekko before), she was about to make a new experience. No need for special moves in a masterpiece like this, its all between the lines :) The title of this episode fits perfectly to any character iin this show. Victor created the Hexcore, Vi created Jinx, Vander created Silco, Piltover created Zaun, ... this goes on forever. My favourite part is when Silco realizes he became Vander and then pours one out to him. He has (had) deals with Piltover enforcers, he was willing to give up on his dream for the people he cared about.

Right now you are in "oh my god" mode. Believe it or not, the show gets better upon rewatching. I would say it takes about 5 watches to catch everything that is going on, all of the foreshadowing, the call-backs, Subtle cues here and there. It's so densely packed that you can't "see" it all in one watching. Perhaps you could stream a re-watch a couple months before Season2 drops. I think a lot of people would be down for that.

It's not just Vander giving up himself for his daughter(s) that's similar to Silco. It's both of them giving up the chance to realize their dream of independance. Silco was so incredibly furious at Vander not because of him trying to drown silco, but because silco made a deal with topside. Now what position does Silco find himself in? He finds himself negotiating with topside because he cares that much about his daughter. And he's offered everything they've fought for, but now he can't accept it because it costs too much

The scary part is now that silco is gone and jinx realized that she can't go back to vy, she has no one to rely on for the first time in her life. No vander, no vy, no silco. But she needs someone. Her abandonment issues were a big part of her character arc from the start and now she is all alone. I think she might completely snap in season 2

I can't figure a way to say it as well, so here's a comment from another video. ReelRai 5 months ago Silco blew me away in this series. He's one of the best villains I remember in a looooong time. He started out as a hideous villain. Someone who hated Vander for leaving the cause. And throughout the series we're not sure, if his care for Jinx is geniune or if he's just playing her, using her for his needs. I'm sure in the beginning, Silco just wanted to use her, and saw a little bit of himself in her. But by the end... oh damn. Silco is in the same position as Vander was and... he understands. He can't give up Jinx for Zaun. Zaun that he has worked his entire life to achieve, all undone by a daughter. Vi loved Powder, and wanted Powder back. But Powder changed, and there was nothing but Jinx left. The only one who unconditionally loved Jinx, was Silco, and I think that's what the end scene is about. Jinx wanted Vi to love her, love what she had become, love Jinx. But after killing Silco she realizes he was the only one who really cared for her, no matter what she had become, and thus Jinx chose to sat on the Jinx chair. It's a twisted father-daughter relationship, but goddamn if it isn't well done, and goddamn if I didn't tear up when Silco died

The ending has soooo much in it to analyze once Jinx decides to use the hex crystal to power her weapon (love all the runes on it considering the way it all works in this series). Mel taking off her ring which is the Noxian symbol shows she's turning her mother down and pledging to stick with Piltover. We get further confirmation when we see her mother looking at the painting which was of Noxus where Mel has smeared the gold paint over it. Then the tragedy that is all of the council following Mel and voting to support Jace's proposal to make Zaun independent, which is everything Silco was working towards. Other things to keep in mind: We have a flash of Heimerdinger working with Echo and Echos clock being in the foreground of the shot before it cuts. We see Singed in his lab with a creature/person that looks like they are almost maybe a werewolf creature. Just keep it in mind, I won't say anything about it aside from that but people have theories lol The last thing we see before the impact with the window is Mel's glistening 'armor'. It looks like armor/the clothes she wore as a child. They do have significance but what it means is unconfirmed, obviously. There are theories about this as well. So much happens in such a short amount of time it's insane. I encourage watching some league cinematics just for the hell of it at some point. They're all incredible just like arcane but arcane definitely is the peak of what riot has been building towards.

You may have missed this among the insanity and chaos of that scene, but Jinx actually saved Vi. Silco tried to shoot her, the gunshot behind Vi's chair, is from Silco, he missed because Jinx reacted on instinct and shot him when she heard him pull the trigger. You can watch it again, it really does say a lot about Jinx's character.

I loved your thoughtful reactions to this amazing show. I normally don't care much for TV or films, I might get some mild enjoyment out of them from time to time but I by and large am not interested. I usually spend my free time playing music, listening to music, or programming, and I only ever watch TV or films when friends put them on when I'm around. However, a friend put this show on for me a few weeks ago and we watched it together over a couple of weeks, finishing last weekend. It's the first time in decades that I've not just found a show passably amusing, but actually loved it. I've actually had to go and look up reaction videos to see what other people have thought/felt about it and it seems I'm not alone, and yours are some of the best reaction videos I've seen to this show. You paid attention, had great commentary, played the full episodes, and had lengthy and insightful monologues afterwards. Thank you, guess I'll see you again when season 2 comes out in 2023 or 2024!

I doubt Cait's mom is gonna survive, but I'm pretty sure Viktor is gonna survive, cause they set up his entire character as in need of the Hexcore, and if he's gonna barely survive that explosion, now is the best time to use it for good. Jayce and Mel have to survive for plot purposes, but I do see a situation where Mel doesn't survive so her mother can be more relevant to the plot.

Who is the real monster? Is it the creator or the created? This is sort of Vi's dilemma throughout the show. Vi wants to punch the bad guys and make them pay, but as we see in the show, there are no real "good guys" or "bad guys". Vi can see Sevika as a bad guy because all she knows about her is that she was a "traitor" to Vander... and that isn't even really true. Sevika is loyal to the undercity and to whomever she thinks will raise it up. That's why she left Vander. Vander was "getting along in order to get by", Vander was ok with the status quo. Silco's goals were for the undercities independence. All Finn cared about profits. This is why Sevika stuck with Silco when Finn tried to rise up.

Christian Linke is definitely the main force behind the "Arcane production". Mako (Alex Seaver) seems to have an influential hand in all of the music. There is a great video of him detailing the making of "What could have been" song featuring Sting. That song was entirely Mako's creation. Fortiche animation was more of a creative partner than being simply hired help.
