The pivot moment isn't being punched by Draymond. The pivot moment is getting his bag. It's hard to remember now, but the Warriors sent Poole down to the G-League in 21 and he responded by working super hard. He developed a reputation for being the hardest worker they had. No one is saying that now. No one talks about his legendary offseason workouts with the Wizards. He has never been even a mediocre defender so he really needs his offensive game to shine and when he is lazy about it, it shows. He also is a victim of the NBA reinforcing some of the carrying rules. He carries worse than anyone and hasn't adjusted, as the video shows.

1. It’s easy to get open looks with Steph Curry on the floor. 2. Poole can’t maintain his balance when he dribbles. 3. No understanding of game flow and shot selection. 4. I think the Warriors are so happy to have Podziemski, who already is a better fit for the Warriors: more willing to play within the Warriors system, better Basketball IQ, better at getting his teammates involved (rather than dribbling into trouble for 10-15 seconds), and a better shooter (nearly 40% from 3-point range) and defender (leads the NBA in taking charges). I did really like Poole when he was with the Warriors, but the team obviously masked a lot of his issues, which are now open for all to see.

It all depends on how ready and willing will Jordan Poole be of eating that humble pie. He has some serious soul searching to do to find his way back to relevance after this. I hope he has some good people around him to knock him out of this. We have seen this happen before, you get an early win and you think you are the man and basically drop the ball and instead of working on improving things start to fall off and you are all of a sudden basically out of the league at age 25. People have generally wised up to these realities in the past 15 years, but this very similar to what happened in the 00's when those hyper athletic guys came into the league, got some juicy dunks in, before they were exposed for not knowing one lick about playing the game, just dunking on people and didn't care to learn anything further... This was basically one certain Michael Jordan too, with the caveat that he actually loved the gym and learnt pretty much everything on the go to get past the Lakers, Celtics, Pistons etc. He did the work, had the motivation and he became the best in the world... Jordan wouldn't have done anything if he had not had the love for the game pushing him forward.

Reporters David Aldridge and Josh Robbins who write for the Athletic and follow the Wizards wrote an article back in December on Poole. They were able to confirm that the video that was posted showing Poole not paying attention in that huddle was EDITED to make it look that way! Apparently the Wizards TV Channel Monumental Sports tapes all their games and the video shows Poole paying attention in the huddle. They advise that what Poole was upset about during the huddle was a mistake he made that allowed Mikal Bridges to score. They went on in the article to say that Poole is a beloved teammate who is still a very hard worker. There are so many people invested in reporting Poole's downfall. I get it, it's entertainment but it is sad when people go as far to falsify content just for likes! It should not surprise people that he's struggling on a new team who isn't good. The same thing is happening with Damien Lillard with the Bucks, and he a much better player then Poole with far more experience. At the end of the day Poole is still young and can turn it around and the Warriors are NOT doing better without him. He helped them make the playoffs last season even though Steph missed 26 games! Unfortunately they won't make the playoffs this year and it's because they don't have him!

I think it's about 50% Poole's fault and 50% Wizards fault. After all - they have been a cemetery for talent these last 3-4 years (at least). It's very hard to bring the best version of yourself into a bad team that is clearly tanking. Since winning is not expected anyway - it gives place to ball hogging, stats inflation, and other undesirable behaviors. Until the Wizards get a player who can be a real leader and a coach who is respected by the players and values hard work and defense - things won't get any better for them. That includes Jordan Poole.

Honestly, I believe the problem with Jordan Poole is more obvious than most realize... His self-esteem and confidence have taken a significant blow. Most think it was due to the incident with Draymond, but Poole’s problem existed long before that. I’ve been a lifelong Warriors fan since the 70s, and I recognized a fragility in Poole that did not exist with other Warriors players past or present. But since DubNation (the Warriors culture) promotes family, togetherness, and oneness, Poole thrived, due to the inherent support of everyone around him (which Draymond played a huge role in). The problem was, he got paid too soon and too much. His already massive ego, that we could all see, was over-fed and he overestimated his worth on a team of superstars; which resulted in that Draymond punch. At this point, I believe that Jordan received bad advice from people in his orbit, which also led to him being instrumental in tanking the Warriors’ entire post-season. That said, and from his perspective, consider an upcoming aspiring star, who works tirelessly until his junior season finally getting the chance to demonstrate his talents and hard work (when Curry got inured) and succeeds; gets rewarded a massive contract; considers himself the next in line to inherit a championship team; only to suddenly get traded? Well, that massive ego/mentally fragile mind gets blown… and I mean /shattered!! Nevertheless, Jordan bears a great deal of responsibility for his situation. Instead of resetting and maintaining the same hard work ethic he displayed at Golden State, he STILL allowed his ego to inflate further, but on another team (Wizards). To him... he got his “bag”, his “championship ring”, and his “star cred”, so no one was going to tell him anything!! And here we are today, at a crossroads in his career. It’s truly unfortunate and I hope I am wrong, but it seems like his career is quite literally over. No one wants to inherit that contract held by such a player, IMHO. But again, I hope I am wrong and that he recovers and rises like a blazing phoenix.

It's real EASY for people to pile on Jordan Poole in moments like this...isn't it. Let's not forget that he's 24 years old...24 YEARS OLD. To me Jordan Poole is a study in how important ENVIRONMENT is to one's success sometimes. It has to be a major mental move to go from playing with a dynasty and culture of Golden State, then the Draymond incident and all of it's coverage to then being traded to one of the worse teams in the NBA all within a short time. I don't care who you are that is going to take a hit to your mental state. Understand, I'm not here to say that Poole isn't responsible for a large part of what happened to him. You can see he very confident in himself, bordering on ARROGANT at times which can rub people the wrong way. And when that confidence isn't producing RESULTS you are going to get royally roasted in this social media climate. The man is averaging 15/3/2 for his career...let's not forget the most he averaged with the Warriors was 20 a night and that was with Steph out mostly. Sooooo, let's not paint the guy like he was averaging 30 and now he's only averaging 15. Yeah, he's fallen off, he just needs to get around some vet and mature leadership. Also, take a little of the HOT DOG out of his game and get back to getting buckets...AND FOR GOD SAKES PLAY SOME DEFENSE POOLE...JEEEEESUS LOL! Poole will bounce back.

the first glaring thing about Poole even with the championship run with the warriors is how minimal effort he gives on the defensive end. Fans of the warriors that doesnt have any basketball knowledge always said he would be better in Washington, but he just have a trash mentality really. Focused too much on Offense and No D like most players out of college. Podziemski right now will have a better career than JP., I just hope he doesn't get to cocky like JP. BP puts effort in D, while he still needs to improve his FT percentage and BP time with Steph and CP might be making him have better decision making and career than JP., doesn't turn the ball over, also makes less dangerous plays., BP, Moody and JK might be a better future for the warriors than Wiggs+Poole.
