It has to be that much because dallas is hard capped at the 1st apron (cant take back more than 500k in salary) so they have to match salary. It can be 4 players though instead of 5: klay, pj, gaff and maxi. Thats the minimum. You cant go lower than that without trading ky or luka. So its not a dumbass trade from a structure standpoint. Its just not desirable for dallas as that would gut their depth for an old guy (granted klay is old too).

I think we are at a point in terms of player movement where we will see a massive shift, the agents and the players just did not get the message yet. The fact that a player like Jimmy Butler, a heavily declining 35 year old who is already currently extremely overpaid, seems to think they can still command a max for his next deal and not only demand a trade, but demand a specific destination is insane. With Butlers current contract situation, the return the Heat would get is just too marginal for them to make it worth it, if Butler really thinks he is worth what he thinks he is he can just decline his player option next year and bet on himself.
