KALARIPAYATTU | Strict Indian Guru

During my 21/22 India trip my plan was to visit the south of India to learn more about the southern martial practices. When visiting the star of Kerala I had so many opportunities to visit Kalaripayattu centers. As one of the oldest Indian martial arts Kalaripayattu has many facets including many weapon traditions.
To start though, you’ll have to go through a body weight sequence and that is what I learned when visiting this kalari. It is led by the oldest female Kalaripayattu teach (78 years old) who is also in this video. As you can see her student (my teacher) was quite direct with his approach. It did make me focus and pay attention. Learning and memorizing a sequence like this in such a short time is not easy that’s for sure.
