Great area. I use to hunt down the road with Jeff Leyton at the Upland Fields hunt club.

Fantastic place for a whole lot of reasons. My favorite vest is still the one with the waist belt that has your name on it! And my Molly is now 9 years old and lives to search out birds! Lots of birds, good companions, fantastic food and accomodations better than anywhere else. Cannot go wrong at Pheasant Bonanza!

What brand shells and what size shot and choke tube size does Trent recommend . How far does he think is the furthest limit to shoot birds . Great show !!

I don't shoot a specific brand but on this show I was shooting mostly federal prairie storm. I love using 5 or 6 shot for mixed bag of upland birds. For quail I use 20 or 28g and size 7 or 7.5 shot. For late season wild birds I will use a 12g and use 4's or 5's. I have made a lot of long shots hunting pheasants but in general most my shots are inside 50 yards. The longest 12g shot I have stepped off has been 74 yards and it was a left to right crossing shot. If I am shooting over pointing dogs I always prefer shooting 16g and 28g shotguns! Enough about me, what do you like shooting George?

@@trentleichleiter1679 Thanks for your reply Trent, I mostly shoot a Benelli Super Black Eagle 12 ga. but I also shoot an older Winchester 101 o-u 12 ga and a Browning A5 12. and use #4 and #5 Winchester 3" shells. I thought it was interesting you used what looked like a Browning A-5 on targets but wasn't sure what you used on the birds. I love those A-5s but they get a little heavy for me after humping 3 or 4 miles. I mostly shoot modified chokes but with the o-u it is nice you can use i-c or full with the mod. Most of my shots are long on really wild pheasants and I always ask what combination of choke and shell people feel is best for the 60 to 70 yd shots.

I love this Chanel but just about every hunt is out of reach to the average hunter, over $2K for 1 1/2 days of hunting?

Hi there! We have plenty of public hunts that we do that are reasonably priced. You can check out those videos on our KZbin Channel.

Love the show but this is not real upland hunting. Anyone can go to a preserve and shoot countless birds and numerous species. There is absolutely no challenge. Wild birds is what makes hunting great. Not only a challenge for the shooter but also the dog. Like I said i love ya the show and the podcast but I think you should stay away from the hunting preserves and stick to wild birds.
