38 usd that is 3 days of wage in Colombo considering the average wage in Colombo is 250 usd/m which is 16 times lower than SoCal. that would be like buying two crabs 600 usd in Cali. I can get 2 crabs (. 4 pounds /1.8kg) for 12 usd in the SoCal fisherman’s market .

Seems like a lot, especially when the restaurant only charged him 1160 to cook them and serve all that other food. Some SriLankans are saying 2000 is a fair price for the two crabs. As a tourist you expect to be overcharged a bit, but from 2000 to 7000 seems to be greedy ! Of course Trevor enjoys his travelling and I guess he doesn't get hung up on getting overcharged sometimes.
