I’m sure he only acts that way when he’s speaking to foreigners. It seems to me to be a way to convey that he’s a friendly person even if he can’t fully communicate with someone. Also we don’t understand the mannerisms of these cultures. Maybe he’s communicating in a way that seems normal to them but weird to us. I don’t see it as cringe I just think we don’t understand why he acts this way.

I love that lady said I love you, she probably doesn’t know too many English, but she is very friendly. In China we have a strong sense of guest and host, as you a foreigner, we think that you are a guest, as a host, we need to treat the guests well. It is very lovely to see you try all the food, and of course, you won’t like everything, but it is nice to see you at least tried. Haha I am about to cry because missing these food. 😭

I am from Tianjin. Lcals know that you can find good breakfast at every corner of streets. The first winter vacation I came back from university (in another city), my mom got me different breakfast every morning for 3 weeks straight! Thats how rich our food culture is. I miss my hometown so much!

I rarely leave comments but what I find super hilarious is that this guy repeats “Good morning” and “Hello” two or three times in a row every time he walks into stores and merely shouts the name of the food he wants to introduce. I have been there both at end of last year and begining of this year. The trip was fantastic and unbelievable experiences in one of best breakfast city from Northern part in China. You have tried almost all of the real snacks from Tianjin during your day trip in Tianjin. Amazing.. Er gu Bao Zi, Laomian, Jianbing, Guobacai.... I wish I could go back some time in future soon!

As a person born and raised from Tianjin, I confirm that we have a humongous menu for breakfast and snacks. ...then we'll eat food from other provinces for lunch and dinner😂 For Jian Bing Guo Zi, I tried them in Beijing and Shanghai, they are not eatable to me, more for people who doesn't know how the OG taste like... and I straightly ignored the ones in New York. Btw, Guo Zi means 油條 and Guo Bi means the crispy version in the dialect. Usually when you order it in Tianjin, the owner will asks you "Would you like it with Guo Zi or Guo Bi?"

@@卓尧杜 Mainly Indonesian language for daily socializing, but I can speak quite well one of chinese dialect (but not Mandarin) which is Hokkienese (taught by parents).
