@@Abman31 I have traveled to 5 different countries myself, and I can tell you, it absolutely happens. Especially people who rarely see a foreigner, and if you have good rapport with them, it isn't unheard of for them to not accept $ as a good gesture. It's obvious you have to be off the beaten path, but you do run into this kind of thing. In Malaysia I experienced both ends of the spectrum on the same day. Groups of people trying to scam me out of my money, and then pretty deep into the outskirts, a group of curious folks and children formed while a was trying street food/snacks and the vendor didn't want to take my $.
