This isn’t the “real” reason. He was offered a big contract prior to the World Cup and all indications were that he was going to accept it. However, after the World Cup Todd Boehly pulled that offer and offered him a one year extension at a lower wage than what was offered. This is what led to the fallout and why his camp said he wouldn’t sign any contract for Chelsea. You can’t blame him after being messed around like that.
