Nice video! Also a handheld addict, with quite a few collected from the 90's. And my absolute favourite is the FT-530! Also have the ultra cool speaker microphone with backlit display and control buttons. Need to build/buy some new battery packs for it too. Wish I had never sold my Alinco DJ-580. Have not been able to find another one. 73's!

I also collect vintage HTs, all of them Yaesus, (30 of them, all working with original accessories) being the oldest from mid 70's. A rare unit that I have is an FT-729, which is identical to the 530, but only sold in Japan. May we share a group of HT collectors? Happy 2023!

I had a Alinco DJ580, think it had some extras done to it. CTCSS (or something like that) or some beepy thing, had an extra board behind the battery plate I think anyway. Did airband. upto 900 something Mhz. Did analogue as they where then mobile phone listening, naughty boy. Writing before you get to it so might mention those things. Used 1994 to 1999 or so. Sat around with its bits, 45cm long extra antenna and a 12V power supply and a nice dual band diamond antenna outside bedroom window. all sold on ebay 2005 or so. Came back 2017. on QRZ. G7TRV and got same antennas now but different connectors. Nothng changes much but radios get better and digital.

@@TheFossilChannel Now to carry on, done in 2 goes. Something on the TV. Got about 1/2 way through. No batteries in them now, got to be easier. Memory tech changed I guess. Remember going in on 1 band. out on another, tried it once. Nice radio, got 2nd hand when only had expensive Japan stuff to buy. 1994. A lot more affordable but crap stuff now. Chuck harmonics everywhere. Baofeng UV5R and similar anyone. Had, not now. Nice Yaesu digital thing now.

Great collection! I was licensed back in the 80's. My first HT was the Icom 02AT after which Radio Shack modeled their HTX-202. I still have the old Icom and it is still solid. I also have an 8 battery alkaline/rechargeable AA pack that works great. "Low tech" compared to what is out now.... BTW, the HT that I still use often is the Kenwood THF6A - still a great rig. Kudos to you on the vid you did on that radio! Subbed! Pappy WR1Y. 73

Hey, can I ask how you get into radios? Like into modding them and using them? Like what can you do and not do with radios etc or good places to learn about them? Edit: Also on the safety?

Go to qrz.com and there are several videos on the world of Amateur radio. Look for Amateur radio websites and videos. Dont go ooking for cb, frs, or gmrs. Those are good forms of communications, but what you really want to learn is the stuff ham radio / Amateur radio offers. Your town might have a local ham radio group, so google that first and then email them saying you want to join one of their meetings. There will be people who will help you from there and sometimes might even give you a radio to get you started.

@@TheFossilChannel Poorly, while the study looks to be relatively easily, it's that I don't like being in person with people as it makes me anxious, so I'll probably avoid it.
