@@wanderinghistorian I remember going to Manhattan 20 years ago and some family members of my then girlfriend met us at Grand Central & took us on a tour of the city. Her Uncle apologised to me for being such a "loud American family" - so some of you certainly are aware! I was actually really taken with how hospitable and genuine they all were (they were from Upstate mind you - a lot of the actual NYers I happened across were pretty rude or just trying to rip the tourists off)

I toured the winchester house! It was very cool! She was apparently trapped in a room during the earthquake and had that part blocked off of the house so there is a second kitchen as they rebuilt such!

I find the first story very interesting because according to my knowledge (told by my family) Winchester actually invented a rather useful firearm to the united states government while in prison, and was given a pardon in order for the government to make a deal with him. I know this because my great aunt was his mistress. The old New Haven factory is still half-abandoned, although it may be fully renovated by now, but I used to explore it with my friends when I was younger.

The knight who slew the dragon outside Frankenstein castle actually was a Frankenstein himself, Sir Georg von Frankenstein, and even though he remained victorious he found his demise himself as even in death the beast would still sting him with the tip of its tail, right into the back of the knee that wasn't protected by his armour, and as the whole dragon (or rather Lindwurm. Picture some kind of giant snake) was poisonous, the knight died in agony.
