ASMR for Bedtime - Legend of Faust and Other Deals With the Devil (Halloween Special)

The "pact with the devil" is a cultural motif that keeps coming back in stories. The legend of Faust is a good example, but not the oldest: it took inspiration from other stories, such as the legend of Theophilus. In this episode, I tell you some of these stories. We will also discover the real, historical figures that inspired them (Theophilus, Johann Faust, Pope Sylvester II, Saemundr Sigfússon...), and the firm belief in the existence of such pacts, that were often invoked in witchcraft trials from the Middle Ages to the Seventeenth Century. As an example, I tell you the story of the Loudun Possessions, one of the last and most spectacular witchcraft trials in France.

My favorite “Faustian” tale is that of Robert Johnson, one of the first blues musicians in the American South. Legend has it he sold his soul to the devil at a crossroads in Mississippi in exchange for great musical ability on the guitar. Viewed by many as the inception of the blues.

Hey sir....ok i'll say it in the simplest way i can, sir i am recovering addict, been clean for 1.5 years, but ever since i quit, I CANT SLEEP, but when i came across your channel last month, your voice somehow puts me to sleep, but for me the 1 hour talking videos dosnt work, so i use those long 2 hour talking compilations to sleep But still, 2 hours to sleep is alot of an improvement for me considering i couldn't sleep for all night or even 2 nights sometimes!
