Is there a reason they don't give you a mild laxative + diuretic? I think that'd take the initial edge off and allow Mary to be more mobile.
@marieked7 жыл бұрын
A W her gut is still asleep, so any laxative would give her cramps and more pain at this point. It's air trapped in her abdomen that's causing more pain. I went through the same thing and once she starts passing gas she'll feel better.
@tiff21067 жыл бұрын
A W th air also first has to go into her bowels so it can be passed it takes some time that's why the first couple of days are the worst.
@awushuful7 жыл бұрын
Wait I thought the air was already in her intestines (are the intestines gas permeable?)? Wouldn't a stool softener or mild stimulant help get them moving?

i had a laproscopic gallbladder removal 3 years or so ago and i remember the pain of being full of air. all the way up in my collarbone! I didn't have THAT gut issue..just lots of bile passing through. that lasted a good 6 months. praying for a full and swift recovery! my mother was diagnosed with Gillian Barre syndrome in february and is currently in a rehab center learning how to walk again. it was caused apparently by a routine vaccination. scary! she has come so far. just a few weeks ago she had a g tube and tracheostomy. both are gone now :) she can breathe on her own and swallow foods!!! praise be to God! He will see her through this til the end. as hr will you, Mary!!! much love to you, Peter and Ollie.

Oh Mary, it is awful to see you in pain yet so comforting to see another young woman struggling with chronic disease. I am a young woman (and mother) with cancer. I just started a new chemo as part of a clinical trial and sometimes I am in so much neuropathic pain. It seems like no one in my life quite understands. Each day I have buckle down and do what I think I can't do. While it is terrible to know you too are in pain, it grounds me to see that I am not alone. And that is a blessing for me, so thank you for sharing your life.

I've had three stomach surgeries in the same way as you, walking helped alot with all the air, got to let all the farts out Mary. Don't hold them in at all. Hold a pillow over your stomach each time you need to cough or get out of bed that helps alot as well.

Pain is such a tough thing. I hope it will ease up for you soon, Mary. I am sure you are doing so, but it helps to distract yourself - this is a documented strategy that really helps deal with pain. Things like watching Shark Tank, silly KZbin videos, or listening to music or podcasts you enjoy are really good ideas. Even doing watercoloring if you think you can tolerate it; doing creative artwork really helps a lot. I crochet and knit if I feel well enough, and it's excellent distraction. Doing crossword puzzles or playing games works also. Prayers continuing for all three of you!

My mum, who is a nurse, explained it to me as if you touch the bowel/intestines during the surgery they go "nuh uh, nope not working! Don't like it!" and shut down for a little bit, even at the slightest touch. Combined with opioid meds it's pretty sucky. I hope they kick back into action soon and the gas gets moving so you are more comfortable but I'm glad to see you sitting upright, that is awesome :)

Mary idk if they've given you any gasx or phyzyme but it helps a lot after laparscopic surgery! The 2 best abdominal n pelvic lap surgery tips i could give you are 1-A Pillow! or 2 pillows :) esp as you cough!! I promise it helps so much!! my hysterectomy my pillow was glued to my stomach. 2- Gasx or phyzyme if you're able. these help me every lap surgery. n even though the gas they fill you up w is diff it still helps! (#3+4 are walking + stool softeners! but only as you're able to walk! Using a pillow helps to walk if it's still too painful. 1+2 are great the first few days when you're having a hard time walking yet. n stool softeners are very helpful but not everyone needs them but when you do they are great!) And yep the fluids n surgery itself will make you swollen like that :( and I hate the awful balance you gotta find btwn pain control n walking n gi issues it's very difficult I'm so sry :( I've have several laparscopic surgeries for endometriosis and my hysterectomy was laparscopic and oh boy esp the hyst bc it was robotic n I was upside down I was so huge n it hurt so much!! I know the first 3 days are the worst but you're sitting up n that's awesome!! 👏💪 great job Mary!! I know how badly it hurts but each day will get better and the more you walk it helps I promise. I know it's hard though but you're doing great!! I'm praying for you everyday and hope today is MUCH better for you!!! 💜

And you're absolutely right compression stockings can def help w leg swelling! I've had 9 laparoscopic abdominal surgeries including 2 C-sections. Mary, you should see my belly-button, my mamma says it's not the one she gave me. Here is what I've learned: 1-move! As much as you can, walk it out, the gas will go & may cause more pain as it begins to move, but it will move. Your movement can help work out the anesthesia's after-effects as well as those of the pain meds (both slow down the gut). 2-pillow is your friend, for coughing & other abdominal pain-causing movements, hold a small pillow to your abdomen with gentle, firm pressure. This gives your cut muscles the external support they need & relieves pain. 3-The extra weight is from the IV. It will work it's way out. Thank you, Mary & Peter, for showing Christ through your lives. May you be blessed!

You are so beautiful and brave, Mary. You inspire me. I'm an old man (67) and I had a brain bleed about five years ago, turned out there was a birthmark on my cerebellum that was bleeding in my head. Well it had to be removed cause it would bleed once in a while causing me to loose my balance and fall down. Thank God the floor was there to break my fall. Well as it turns out, I had to have Sergey to remove it. I was able to get around with a walker in the beginning, and a cane after that but now after five years I still have bouts of dizziness and more falling. Today I have to use a walker all the time so I don't fall..like you I deal with it but I worry about as the years go by what will happen. I live alone but don't get me wrong, I love the freedom of not having to depend on others. I youse your video blog as inspiration to push ahead. Thank you and Peter for the the inspiration. 💖🤓💐
