This song is a masterpiece, thank you Ray, love you man!

Hope Ray relives his triumph every time he sings this-it was the summer of ‘66, Sunny Afternoon was #1 in the charts and England had just won the World Cup.

Would have gone to #1 in the states had The Kinks been allowed to tour! This is my #1 on my Kinks Top 100 ("Picture Book" is #2)!

The fact that he's still playing to such a small crowd, which would have been when he first started out, but never forgot his roots...He played that room...what a legend...my love always, Ray...xxx

This song reminds me of shopping at Macy's with my mom for paisley shirts and wide wale cords... and don't forget the big belt. Young and innocent days.

In the twenty-twenty hindsight orthodoxy of our Rock & Roll history textbooks, Ray Davies gets cited as the progenitor of the proto-punks. He loved the music that had found success before his, though, including the trad-jazz that offered his oldest sister the casual opportunity to enjoy a dance in the arms of a stranger, where she died the day she gave Ray his first guitar. The trendy guitar bands like his kid brother's (not to mention John and Paul's - and Mick and Kieth's) quickly made that scene a thing of the past - along with the music hall sing-alongs his dad had loved. When success came to reward his cohort for their foresight and swagger, they never looked back. Ray did, though. "Help me, help me, help me fade away..."

Why do millions of people of all ages still listen to and revere the Beatles. The same can't be said about the kinks. Fool of fool. You must be tone deaf, and possess no real grasp of music. So twanging guitars and a few trendy lines impress you thick simpleton.
@Mrbeatles1991 Жыл бұрын
When you think about the genius of Ray Davies and the only thing that comes to mind is Lennon or McCartney, it shows two things: you have a personal problem with John and Paul, The Beatles are above any other band. Your comment is very unfair to Ray, John and Paul.
