What I find interesting about that removal at the beginning, I couldnt conceptualize until I was watching a Balatro run where they got the free reroll joker and explained it. Its actually worth whatever your last reroll, or in this case removal, would have been worth. So if you were to remove 4 times and the cost is, what, 150? Then its worth 150. Because instead of going 75, 100, 125, 150, it goes 0, 75, 100, 125. same set except you exchange the last for the 0. Just a bit of cool counterintuitive math there :P

And that's just the gold cost, not the opportunity (cost) - the removal both skips the costs associated with removing a card, on top of the opportunity to remove something in the first place.. because realistically, regardless of how much gold you get during the run, you can only visit so many shops. It's one of the reasons removal events are so valuable, it's often a lot less about the gold than the opportunity.

@@WLMinaro I didn't learn about opportunity cost until playing an online card game. Being able to do something early/when you want vs. later is HUGE, and it's a mostly invisible thing until you know enough about a game to realize what you're losing out on.

@Lucernam Yeah, opportunity costs are most obvious in roguelikes; where you usually deal with decisions that have long-term effects or consequences, but they're present in most games that involve tactical decision-making. Most players will come to understand it at a basic level, even if not everyone are able to conceptualise it. It's not required to deeply understand it for most games, although it will often be helpful.

This was easily one of my favourite Frost runs ever. Tragically bad rolls across the run, skipping claw and chat being super mad only for the astrolabe to hand him back the claw that ended up being a hero of the run. The drama of no HP in act 2. Calipers arriving just in time.. just a beautiful run altogether! Congrats on beating the run Frost, and good job chat on being right all along!

Obviously this run is a testament to how good Claw is and how good Callipers are for the defect, but more importantly they're a testament to how good Frost is. This and The Watcher run were basically in death spirals from floor 1 with abysmal draw orders and bleak relic offerings, and Frost had to Claw his way out of the grave for most of the run.
