I like how the skill of playing the game actually translated, despite being new content, and there were some first time killers, it's quite incredible how fast he picked up just how abusable it could be and absolutely decimated the mod on A20 Well, except that one fight that kinda bugged, which is more of a coding issue than his fault

Personally, the gameplay doesn't suit me; I tend to dislike sudden unknown sources of time pressure/stress, or when there's too much of it, and especially for management games I tend to only go for turn-based ones for that reason. It's largely the same reason there's very few RTS games that I enjoy. I could speculate for a lot of reasons why it didn't blow up more than it did, but that feels redundant. You are correct, though - the worldbuilding for their games is insanely fascinating. If you haven't already, I'd recommend you either play or check out Library of Ruina; it's a direct sequel, one that I've personally played since it's a lot more similar in gameplay to STS :P
