M51/53s with Soviet GP5 filters. The m51/53 is a upgraded version of the M51 gas mask. The upgrades being exhale valve and exhale valve cover changes but overall the M51 and M51/53 masks face piece remains identical to each other. 27:16: When mentioning the AKM a picture of a soldier wielding a MPI-K briefly appears on screen. 30:30: they're repelling, not fast roping. Air mobile units did exist in Vietnam and they did repel from helicopters. 30:46 dragons breath can cycle. there is multiple videos, granted using saiga 12s, going full auto with dragons breath. 31:39: According to a few local Vietnamese commentors, this sign actually translates to "fix the baby". 35:36: The weapon that appeared in the image is a XM177E1 instead of XM177E2, noticeable by the slightly shorter 10" barrel instead of 11.5" barrel and other small details. 40:27 this van does have some parts that could be as early as 1971 but still very much so anachronistic for the games setting. 46:01: This picture might be of Finnish soldiers. It is difficult to tell however if the article that claimed they are British is correct. 54:54: The AUG is Austrian, not Australian (certified goofball scripting error moment) 1:01:44 The suits shown here would not show up until the mid to late 1970s. Before that the US had a very complicated CBR protection system for ground troops with TAP gear being used for specialty roles like hazmat and chemical weapon disposal. 1:07:30 This picture shows both Kennedy and the Governor sitting at the same height in the same bolt-upright stance, but in reality they sat in different postures that roughly line up with the bullet’s flight path meaning it didn’t magically zigzag. We apologise for any confusing or misunderstandings caused from these scripting mistakes. *Attached here is a statement from one of our key researchers, FeReinsm containing some important information:* ''Once again, I’m grateful to be a part of this project! Especially when working together with The Frosty 1, two of my friends from FoB crews, Adrian Bari, AlexDVasilkov, and the MAN - Munancho INC. himself! Despite there being some problems at first due to the KZbin algorithm and its age restricting which forces us to replace and censor some of the contents in order to make this video available for everyone of you guys to see. Interestingly, when Frosty tried to reupload the exact same version of the video for the 2nd time, it didn't get age resreicted or demonotised so it’s likely that a bot was flagging the videos randomly. Nevertheless, we decided to upload the toned down version just in case and we must apologise for the inconvenience. There’s also some extra things we’d like to inform you: 1. The main point in making this video is to point out any historical inaccuracies and other mistakes we can find within this game with our best efforts (simple as that), as for the educational case and a case study for fellow historical enthusiasts or even those who want to become future game developers or modders. 2. Speaking of which, at this point I'm pretty sure there will be some people who wanna respond with something like the inappropriate weapons are supposed to be “prototypes” or “testing weapons”. However, while few of them are quite acceptable in certain circumstances, the rest of the anachronistic weapons in the entire game are never introduced or never designed and even appear in blueprints during the 1960s period. Not to mention that some of these supposedly prototype weapons are: 1) Used in large numbers among the enemies. 2) Appear in multiple levels. 3) The existence of these weapons among certain factions are either questionable or outright inappropriate. 3. Rumor has it that Black Ops was originally supposed to take place over a much longer period, from the Bay of Pigs to the Iran Embassy siege. The sheer amount of weapons and equipment from the 70’s and early 80’s was probably designed with that in mind before the story got shifted to only take place in the 60’s.

The fact that our main characters managed to survive at such high pressures without major equipment at the bottom of the Atlantic ocean is pretty insane. That coupled with the thought that the main characters rapidly surfacing to water straight from the bottom of the ocean would give these character's a possible fatal condition called Caisson Disease. They simply flew near Soviet airspace and use its powerful cameras and sensor to peer into the country. 1:04:47 This underwater base seems to be partially inspired by Project Azorian which was a CIA operation to recover the wreck of a Soviet ballistic missile submarine that sank north of Hawaii in 1974. 1:05:57 I think those are supposed to be Gearing class destroyers.

To be fair, the “ACOG” sight in-game is actually a period-authentic Colt scope when used on most weapons (excluding the AK and Enfield which use the PK(?) and SUSAT scope) with the name “ACOG” likely only being for players to recognise as a familiar attachment from previous games. Both US and Soviet night vision/starlight scopes appear as thermal sights in multiplayer. Also if I remember correctly, the “Magic Bullet” Theory at 1:07:30 has been debunked as it assumes both Kennedy and the Governor were sat at the same height in the same bolt-upright stance, rather than being sat in different postures that roughly line up with the bullet’s flight path meaning it didn’t magically zigzag.

As a 24yold french man, Black Ops was the first +18 rated game (equivalent to M rated) that I owned. It was the first game truly grounded in reality that I ever played, appart from the Halo, Fable & Nintendo games that I played at the same time. I am now an History and military/warfare enthusiast in all pieces of media with a strong appreciation for historical accuracy and history preservation, and I can tell that Black Ops really left me with a incorrect vision of what the Cold War was like. There a many misrepresentations that remains grounded in my mind about that time period and left me believing that Cold War was a grimier, early version of 80s-90s warfare, instead of the "WW2 enhanced and polished" style from the 50s-60s and early 70s that I adore. I do not believe that the team that Treyarch has put many effort into representing the era. Based on how I personally remember the game when I was 10 and how it is portrayed in this video, it feels like the "Discovery Channel" version of Cold War. I do not believe that Call of Duty being an arcade accessible shooter, previously focused on WW2 then modern era warfare, shifting its era for a single episode (at the time) during the Cold War is an excuse for such a poor representation of the major events that the USA got involved into during the period. A game does not need to be realistic nor a simulation to simply be accurate in its depiction of a real life event, and I do not believe a gameplay excuse works either, nor the excuse of an "alt history" or a "side fictive history" that took part during the events. Those major real life events are named, portrayed and lived in the game and as such, should be, my in opinion, granted with more efforts for a accurate representation, even if romanced. By taking my single example, such inaccuracies made me to grow up with a wrong image of that period and caused me many misbeliefs that I had to work hard to forget about. And even with that, I am an History enthusiast, so I will eventually get rid of it since I take interest in the matter. But many people of my age that doesn't necessary care about it would not understand how wrong the game portrays the era and live their life with inaccuracies about those important part of history. It might seem like a minor inconvenience, but I believe that It takes part at building up generations of uncultured people.

"пулемёт Калашникова") 12:36 - this is doesn't apply to this and "Executive Order" mission, but for the rest of the game after 1963 more period-appropriate alternative for Soviet faction would be IZh-21 shotgun (1964), a copy of the Remington 870. 15:24 - this should be any pre-60's Soviet sawn-off double-barreled shotgun as the period- and place-appropriate variant (maybe this was originally planned like that, judging by the fact that technically Mason only fire and "load" 2 rounds into the shotgun). 16:03 - it is obvious, but I'll mention this: instead of this GAZ-13 limousine, there should be any high-end 1950's/early 60's Chrysler or Lincoln limousine cars as the appropriate and suitable choices. 16:26 - and these M-72 bikes should be replaced by the military Harley-Davidson (or maybe BMW) bikes (or they can be replaced by 1957 military police Chevrolet cars, but I'm not sure about this). 17:56 - or it would be the Walther MPK. 25:31 - quote from IMFDB: _«The only historically accurate way to do this would be to jury-rig a sawed-off shotgun to the rifle (say with zipties) or have an armorer create a one-off mounting (as with, say, the custom Mossberg 500 mounting seen in Predator), using something like an XM148 mount»._ 31:03 - or Savage Model 720, Remington 1100 or its combat select-fire version Model 7188 also can be better choices among Vietnameses as the captured firearms from ARVN or US forces. oh, it's one of my favorite parts as this level incoming :3 37:58 - or also it should be the aforementioned Browning Hi-Power, Beretta M1951, or MAB PA-15 due to it's round capacity, and for Spetsnaz it also can be CZ 52 instead of regular CZ 75 among them... 38:15 - ...or/and Soviet experimental 1947 Kalashnikov SMG, TKB-486 or East German WG-66... 38:24 - ...or Franchi LF-57/Beretta M12... 38:50 - ...or somewhat similar looking to this MAS FR F1, although the F1 is a bolt-action rifle. 52:18 - this is not an AMD-65, this is a full-size AKM-63. 55:40 - and for Americans, a more suitable choice would be the Heckler & Koch HK33, its licensed copy Harrington & Richardson T223, or the much earlier Model 45A bullpup rifle instead of the Steyr AUG, while for FAMAS the MAS 54B or MAS 54B/C can be an more correct alternative coice. 57:56 - and TOZ-34 or MTs 8 also can be more period-accurate and suitable choices for Spetsnaz units, because they are also double-barreled over and under shotguns like the "Olympia" in game. 58:47 - these Galils should be replaced by AR-18 for the Americans in "Redemption" mission, and by early Finnish Valmet Rk 62s for Spetsnaz units. 1:02:25 - more appropriate choice would be Moskvitch 408, Moskvitch 412 or earlier Soviet production cars. Btw great video, Frosty! 👍

This is an absolute treat to divulge into and the amount of effort gone into this cannot be overstated. it's simply incredible stuff also cherry on top, i had doubts about the nationality until i heard "absolute eejit" and thought "yep that's purebred Irish"

Oddly enough ive always thought the game was set in the 80s (hugely ignoring JFK was 60s, back then i didnt know that), so when you mentioned that the game was probably set in the 80s early in the game's development, makes me feel a bit better about cofusing the decades lol

There should be a BO1 mod that fixes the historical inaccuracies and the anachronistic weapons in the game, like the Fall of Berlin mod for World at War. It would be interesting to see what the gameplay of Black Ops would look like if it’s historically accurate

54:54 The Steyr AUG is an Austrian weapon. It's produced at Steyr Arms in Steyr/ Upper Austria. It stands for Armee-Universal-Gewehr (Army-universal-rifle). The australians use them as well.

I’m taking four history college courses at the time this video went up and I’ve learned SIGNIFICANTLY more from this video about the Cold War than all four of my classes combined.

I swear any historical action games always have these kinds of "this game taught me more about history than my history class" comments made about them. Like yea they're neat and entertaining, but realistically, in what context will knowledge of stuff like "what uniforms did the North Vietnamese Army use during the 1960s" actually be of any use outside of some niche military history applications or videos like this?
@everythingsalright1121 Жыл бұрын
@@CoolAndrew89 pretty much. Most history courses focus on thingd like events, ideologies and whatnot. Sure weapons might have some relevance if they significantly affected the events being covered in a course but for the most part university course arent meant to talk about how cool a gun was or what every detail of a uniform is

@@jurassicarkjordanisgreat1778Mostly big imperialist nations like Russia, China or America do these things. You wouldn't see biased history from an Austrian school, for example.

I'm currently in Hanoi and will visit Hoa Lo prison tomorrow. The real prison doesn't have the flagtower, but I am happy to report the front entrance was accurately depicted, as was the guillotines prominence. Hopefully I will see how accurately Treyarch did their homework with the multiplayer map.

Amazing look into the inaccuracies of BO1. It would be cool if you were to ever tackle the original Call of Duty games 1, 2, Big Red One and 3 to see if there are any inaccuracies (which based on what we have seen with how many of these games taking place in the time period of WW1, WW2, Cold War Era I wouldn't be surprised if there's plenty of them)!

I love the video and the really deep attention to detail you have but there is one inaccuracy i would like to correct at 16:40. The m1911 has a automatic slide stop that locks the slide open after the last round is fired. You do not have to rack the slide back unless the slide stop fails or you cannot reach the slide stop with your thumb.
