Most US vises use a 3/8" dia shaft. Very interesting concept. You certainly have a good grasp of thinking outside the box!

Thanks again, Mike. Been a subscriber for a good long while. Nice to see you making content again. You're videos are always helpful with my own tying, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Really appreciate the outside of the box thinking. Wife had a frother sitting in the drawer unused for ages. It's now mine. Keep up the excellent work.

This is a great idea for making brushes. I built one of the wooden brush makers with the drip down table and it was quite a journey finding sealed bearings at a reasonable price. At first I was getting prices of $50 apiece which I know is outrageous because I use to buy them at NAPA for about $5 apiece. I dress well most to the time so I thought that might be the problem. I put on my old greasy work clothes and boots and went in the next week and got them for $7 apiece. I didnt like using the wire either because of the stiffness. I tie smaller flies in the size 4 to 12 range and it just wasnt laying right on the hook. It doesnt look like you can mass produce these brushes but the advantage is that it is already attached to the hook so I guess it balances out. I am like you in that I like to build everything I can. I know what went into it quality wise and most of time it is a better product. Thanks for the inspiration and I always look forward to your uploads. I guess I'll have to find someone to give the previous brush maker to.

Mike I have a challenge for you to make with a 3D printer: The Ultimate Fly Tying Vise Clamp. Most vise clamps are difficult to get tight enough to the vise shaft and to the bench. They either have a little knurled knob or handle which aren’t easy to tighten. Sadly the under tightened vise tends to slip or wobble when tying. Design Considerations: Shaft Clamp 1. Ergonomics: Make the shaft clamp user-friendly. A possible way would be to use a threaded insert to accept a hex bolt say 1/4-20 and to machine a flat the full length of the vise shaft. The bolt could easily be tightened or loosened with a wrench or faster with a ratchet wrench. (no slipping here) Table Clamp 1. Ergonomics: Make the clamp user-friendly. Similarly to above method that could be tightened with a wrench. 2. Large Clamping Surface: Design the clamp with a larger clamping surface area to distribute the pressure evenly on the table, reducing the risk of slipping. 3. Non Slip Clamp Jaw: incorporate a Rubber insert to prevent slipping. 4. Wide Table Clamp Opening: To accommodate a different table thickness.
