I come from the days when you had a Tedder & a Windrow and you *always* burnt the stubble, which was a sight to see as the fire-line crept across the field and all the hands keeping an eye on the line of poplars at the edge of the field . . . But I digress. Interesting machine, that. I see there's a bit of faffing about, but better one machine to do the job of two. Thanks for the U/L x

We are approaching our second summer in our Cornish small holding and have bought, but yet to use, the same hay bob for our MF135 (thank you for the great video you did on how to change the oil). This is a really helpful video thank you!

I remember when haybobs arrived lol. They almost took a day off the time to win hay. The old Dickie turners used to leave wet bits sticking to the ground which would lift when the swathes were worked for second and third time , meaning damp pouks in the hay. The haybobs also made the Lely Acrobat redundant as they rowed up so efficiently there wasn't enough left to be worth raking! Main problem was the tines breaking off and breaking shear bolts in the baler or damaging the bale knife. I think later models tried to tie the tines together so that if they halved they would stay on the machine.

Hello mate, I'm rufus from London England, and I've worked on farms all my younger years, I put an advertisement in farmers weekly, and got two farmers who were willing to give me a try, one was dairy and the other dairy and arable, 360 cows, and 40 acres crops and grazing, I drove tractors, combine harvesters, 360 excavator, backhoe, but the best was getting up at 430 am to milk the 360 cows every day, the bail hay, or spread silage

Cool. We used to have a couple Haybob's, great for guys that just have a smaller operation or don't want to spend the money on 2 machines. With that said, I'm glad we now have both a tedder and a rake rather than a Haybob lol

Adjusting the wheels is important. You have yours set in the mid height. It will not do a good job rowing if they are left in the highest setting (wheels full height from ground)

You should use the 1000 rpm pto then you'd have way less revs way less diesel burnt 💲 ! I always use my square baler this way
@hayfarm19908 жыл бұрын
Have you ever had to change those little horizontal springs on the shafts that keep the tines in the air. Your springs on that model look like a bit different set up then my Sitrex HM300.

That's an itty bitty tedder! I'm so used to seeing the huge ones we use here, I've never seen one that small. How big are the fields you're typically running in?
@thefunkyfarmer8 жыл бұрын
its only any good for small fields. we use in fields of about 6 acres
@phoenixrising45738 жыл бұрын
makes sense for a field that size! I've pulled bigger 4 or 6 wheel rigs in fields that size.....it sucks trying to turn!
@tineyfin9 жыл бұрын
not telling you what to do but from experience of round baling and using a haybob 350 rpm is plenty for rowing and turning it leaves less lumps in the grass and leaves it a lot easier on the baler man :)

really explained what i was looking for , ie the position of the tines for raking and tedding, what i didn't understand was you said about the position of the top link when you change to raking was very important can you explain the two positions of the top link please, im just about to start making hay for the first time !!! thanks
@thefunkyfarmer7 жыл бұрын
you need to extend the top link a bit when you are raking otherwise the tines will hit the ground and break

great hay making videos Richard must be a relief to have the hay all done while the weather was good have you ever bought a new tractor on the farm or do you buy all used people I know have different opinions on which way to go with machinery replacement some buy all new on finance and other buy used outright and don't like finance
@thefunkyfarmer10 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul. We have only ever bought a couple of new tractors, the rest 2nd hand. But with the price of new tractors now we can't really justify a new tractor any more on a small farm like ours. As you can see we use mostly contractors for a lot of the jobs on the farm as the machinary is so expensive. We buy both new and 2nd hand machinary but it really depends what it is, obviously you have to be carefull with 2nd hand that it hasn't been hammered to death. I would buy new every time if i could justify the cost as we tend to keep our machinary a long time

Hi, You ever considered running it on 1000 rpm with half the revs? It really doesn't take much hp to run, Just askin
@thefunkyfarmer7 жыл бұрын
never tried. wouldn't that involve putting on a different shaft?
@samhardiman10197 жыл бұрын
thefunkyfarmer No, just select 1000 not 540, not all older tractors have that setting. My old David brown 995 does. I find it's a lot quieter, less diesel. Love the videos keep them coming.
@bluegtturbo7 жыл бұрын
Do you really need to run it at 500rpm? As Sam says, it's harder on diesel and noiser. I find I can run at 400rpm and about 4km hour. But I guess maybe you are moving faster?
@nippyfox81369 жыл бұрын
Cracking video. What horse power is required to drive your Haybob?
@will-wv1jl8 жыл бұрын
+Nippy Fox dont need much at all we have used 72hp (leyland) but you could use less than that
@joshualane18217 жыл бұрын
We don't use a lot to f horse
@ypeveldhuis4527Ай бұрын
I guess a live-drive pto is more important than hp. As long as the tractor can lift the machine, and keep it going, you can get good results. Experiment in your crop, what pto speed and forward speed suits best. In windy conditions slower forward may give a neater row when windrowing. Lovely to see a haybob again!
