Some lovely clean looking ladies their buddy, an you can't beat the old school parlours, a proffer the older parlours to theise new Rotary parlours. And you can almost smell it, worked on a Dairy farm for 4years an their parlour was alot like this, fantastic work my freind 👌🏻

It's amazing how smart the cows are, people have no idea, they know what to do where to go, they know when it's time to head to the cowshed, normally can be seen waiting for the farmer at the gate. I live in New Zealand and I drive a milk tanker here in NZ, I see them a lot waiting at the gate to head to the cowshed. Richard, have you ever looked at farming in NZ at how different it is from the UK, from what I've seen of farming in the UK that farming in NZ is so different that it probably seems alien lol.

that brought back memories from my first job in 1964 milking a herd of 100 hard work but i loved it. used to take a can home to my mum. seven days a week twice a day. then working the farm. small bales a pitch fork to throw them up 5 high plus on the trailer. beet topping by hand , no wonder my back is now knacked.

I live inJersey…and see a lot of cows and get stopped a lot for cows to cross road for milking. My husbands grandparents used to manage cows. I sometimes go to farm shop where there is cow shed next door and I don’t know how you live with the smell. I wondered do you have to clean everything down after milking , and what do you put on udders when they have finished. My husband has an aversion to cows since his childhood so don’t know what happened there, but you boys don’t have that problem.

Could do with cleaning them milk jars of yours, but I understand as a farmer myself cows can be a pain in the bottom as. I mean as soon as you get everything clean the cows go dirtying it all. I have a parlour a lot older than yours and only milk four at a time and have to keep bending down all of the time. Ich bin auf einem Bauerhof aufgewachsen, da habe ich die Kühe von Hand gemolken. Das war noch angenehm für die Kühe, Jetzt alles maschinell, was ist wenn sie fertig ist mit der Milch ,saugt dieses Gerät weiter, nicht mehr normal. Wieso muss man sie anbeten. Es ist grauenvoll. i had 85 through a parlour just like that about18 yrs ago could tell every cow by it face and usually roughly the same time they would enter the parlour miss them to this day they were great days and was a pleasure to get up for work every day

We do, the cows arn't different, it's gthe system. We have a mixture of Holstein, Friesans, Holstein Friesians, Montbeliard, Jersey...even Hereford somewhere. The cows graze from about February to Novemeber, as early and late as possible. The block calving is brilliant for a father and son set up as it's a massive push to monitor calving etc but all at one time. Then there are loads of calves, so they have a system set up where the milk goes to the feeding barrls via a pump. it's brill.

Your cows have a lovely temperament, just like the ones I milk :) I work on a NZ style grazing farm putting 225 april calving cows through a 30:30 Gascoigne Herringbone parlor. About 3.5 hrs from start to finish inc wash down and everything. I feel like doing a video now :)

hi richard are these cows of holstein friseian mix breed and whats the diffrence between holstein cows and friseian cows. by information came to know that holstein cows give more milk than friseian is it true. i saw in the video dip some thing after cow's milking is over is it any kind of medicine .love the way u take care of ur cows .

rohit bhadanethese are British Friesians which are a bit smaller than a Holstein.They don't give as much milk but last longer and are easier to look after.We dip them wth teat dip after milking to try and reduce any infection in the udder.Cheers

What is the purpose of the butt chains? Do the head gates not lock? Does it control the tail? Can't be anti-kick. We are looking at a walk-through parallel for a very small herd in Texas, over here the stanchions don't come with chains.

Hi john. All the chains do is prevent the cows from stepping backwards and off the milking platform while they are being milked. The cows aren't restrained in any other way such as a head lock
