Great video Rich . Not sure what the weather is like there today but here in Ireland its raining heavy so you were lucky to get it in before the change in weather . Keep up the great work .

thefunkyfarmer yeah i know the dry weather like it has been last few days and the two dry weeks here not so long ago slowed down the growth rate and then the moisture levels dropped in the harvest , would you have noticed that much in your area ?

I'm sure that grass will turn into perfect silage. One year we made silage and one or two paddocks of the grass were almost hay and they turned into good silage too. Also I remember that last year you had too much an made the rest into bales, did you end up feeding them all?
@thefunkyfarmer7 жыл бұрын
Yes we did. I think I'm going to be short of big bales this year due to the lack of rain

The silage looks dry enough for a good conservation . I understand that you don't use a tedder , if the weather isn't that sunny as this year ; do you use than a preservative ? Or don't you have never to deal with butyric acid bacteria ?
@thefunkyfarmer7 жыл бұрын
Yes we use ecosyl

Have you ever walked around your farm and said when buildings were first constructed? I'm from Virginia- and the oldes barns and houses date to the late 1700's.. though most "old" places are from the 1880s or so...
@thefunkyfarmer7 жыл бұрын
The earliest is 1712. Then about mid 19th Century

I there such a thin as having too much silage
@Theorimlig7 жыл бұрын
Yes. Harvesting it and putting it in the clamp all costs money, and if you make too much it will be taking up space. Also, if you end up with too much you have to throw it away.
@harrymx20577 жыл бұрын
Why don't you go on the tractors or harvester
