I LOVED IT!!! My first model kit and it was spectacular! If it wasn't for fwoosh, I probably wouldn't have even considered these kits. I already replaced my black series Han in stormtrooper armor in my case for this. The face sculpt and paint is spectacular! I'm very happy! I'm definitely going to get more. Always enjoy your reviews! Ever since the Grievous kit I’ve been hooked. Ive gotten all of them and will keep buying as many as they make. They are fun to put together and look awesome. I’ll be getting this and Luke as soon as I can. It is hard to wait though.

Oh hell yeah, they need an IG-88. The model kits are great for armored characters and droids. I wish they'd do every droid.

Agreed. The model kits are a ton of fun putting together. But I'm not getting characters I already have figures for. I imagine a lot of people feel the same. It's a shame they don't just release the 3PO and R2/R4 molds in different colours for different droids. They're the only model kits I've bothered with (along with Grievous) and it was all because there was no figure of that character at the time (well, with R2 there was, but he was undersized by Hasbro and Bandai/MAFEX hadn't got to him yet). I'm know a lot of people don't cross pollinate lines but for those of us who do... dang it, we're waiting for more! :P

Yeah, but the Black Series IG-88 is small and prone to rot at the joint covers, Bandai would knock it out of the park.

I was expecting a bit better from the model kit's human head but Ford is a tricky bastard to get right. However, for a first try and a decent price it's a cool first step. Now Robo, about that comparison at 15:10...man, I'm so glad to have the SHF Han Solo...imo the best rendition of the actor so far in 1:12. I think that, like a lot of figures, it got too scrutinized in macro pics but it's actually kinda great. It should have come with more than one face tho.

Yeah, I didn't even think of how hard it is to get Ford right in plastic form. And I don't have a lot against the SHF Han head, but mine's eyes are a little whited out, like he has cataracts.

you're right, I actually remember watching your review and thinking "man, Robo has some BAD luck with certain figures I end up loving". Although the Revo Venom was so far the most traumatic one. Such a cool figure, but I can't blame you for hating it considering what you had to deal with. Ford has a very asymmetrical face, which is why it is so hard to get him right imo. The guy who plays Anakin, on the other hand, I always knew it would make a great SHF because he has that "generic handsome face", if it makes any kind of sense to you.

Hi u say your having trouble with the rounded parts on the stickers I was getting that then I used a pin 2 scratch it, so it looks like ware and tare like hes been around a bit and use a pin 2 put some stickers on that r small thanks 4 the video's bro

Cool, i kinda wait till Luke ver. release, kind of bored having stromtropper in same height hahaha... i got two of this basic model kit stromtrooper. And already built one-the articulation is crazy! even it can do kind of sit down-meditation pose freely...wow.... slightly it has better articulation than SHF...

Glasses&Mouthplates I don't have the SHF, so for all I know, it could be one of those cases where the print looks better in-person. Probably going to get one once the reissue hits my local vendors.

I dunno, I may say the same thing on my impression on this kit if I have it in-hand myself. Like most of the comments, for a pre-painted model kit, it does look acceptable, if not pretty good for what it is. I guess it maybe just my soft spot on the SHF version possessing the uncanny Ford-esque cocky smirk look on its face, while this kit is more to "almost there but not quite the Han" impression. And yea, the digital face print effect usually don't do justice when it comes to macro photoshoots since our eyes are always "tricked" to believe that the headsculpt is bigger than what it's supposed to be and the pixel effects look way too apparent, when in fact they're purposely meant that way to create a soft gradient effect when you view them with a naked eye.

THe ball and sockets are too completely different sizes, along with the neck lengths. It can be done with work. The SHF head looks pretty good on the model kit body.

the SHF version eyes look ...weird.. Like it got cross eyed. I am glad that the new Bespin Han from TBS has the best looking Han (besides from the Casting Cave custom head which is around $50 painted)

Enjoyed the review. You should've hit that neck with some paint while you were at it just to get a little better match with the face. If you get a chance, would you check out the preorder on BBTS for the Bandai 1/12 clone model kit. I want to know if you think it's just a re-release? of your previous review or did they update it at all, especially the articulation in the elbows. Thanks.

I was thinking the same for Luke Skywalker if they use the standard stormtrooper he's going to be way to tall, I finished my Han Solo S/Trooper kit put next to my (Black Series) Luke Skywalker (X-Wing pilot ANH) and Bandai S.H. Figuarts Luke Skywalker RTJ witch are way shorter.

Nice review Robo. I know it shouldn't bother me, but for some reason the shiny, plastic-y looking hands irk me on these model kits; they just make the figure look so...fake. I wonder how they'd look with some dull coat

Or get some Tamiya flat (matt) black paint - If you paint anything on these kits I recommend doing it on the sprue before snipping them off; much more practical!

No, Testor's Dull Cote is a popular product for taking the shine off of models. But it is a matte clearcoat. Personally I use matte Varathane water-based polyurethane with some Tamiya X-21 flat base mixed into it.
