The whole subplot about the organization being fake still holds true. The only reason it came to actually exist was because it was funded by Pizza Bat jr. This is shown when you defeat him at the end of the game and Silvia is forced to work in a peep show. Finally at the end Travis takes her away from that place. So yes the organization at first was made up so Silvia could help Travis get his revenge. But in two it was actually made real and funded as opposed to being a con.
@teneesh33764 жыл бұрын
Still doesn't explain why Travis doesn't question it. He never once asked why the UAA existed. Also NHM2 said that he did have sex with Silvia in the first game. Which is just not true
@incognitony12824 жыл бұрын
To be fair, why does Travis need to question it? Sylvia immediately tells him that assassin fights have become trendier and pretty much a spectator sport, I feel like that's enough for Travis to clue in that it's no longer a con. As for the "tasting those goods" line, I'm assuming Travis was just referring to his kiss with Sylvia after he killed Harvey which I guess you can sorta call it "tasting those goods". His wording definitely makes it sound like he got more than that but that was sorta also the case with him saying to Henry "she's a bad wife...but a good woman" so nothing new for Travis really.

The main problem I have with NMH2 is definitely the bosses, there's no feeling of reward when beating them. I get that in NMH1 some bosses were ridiculous and often fairly hard to beat but I don't believe it was a good idea to completely dumb them down and just make it a session of easily mashing the X/Y buttons or the A button (for Wiimote users). Every boss had a sort of challenge to it in NMH1 some dealing with patience, others with strategy, and even some pattern. Making things calm at the end of the storm, but, either way. The NMH series will always have my heart.

I think my biggest issue with NMH2 (aside from Shinobu’s stages being kinda crap) is Charlie MacDonald. My issue isn’t that it’s a giant robot fight, that’s fine to me, my issue is how early you fight him. I've played this game, and even though there are a couple of flaws, I still enjoyed it. It's OK to love a game despite its flaws. There are plenty of games I love that have major problems to them (such as Final Fight Streetwise, yes I am guilty as charged for loving it). Hell, a lot of games people love have problems to them. For example, Starcraft was loaded with dozens of glitches that caused the game to freeze (try having an SCV repair a unit that’s going into a dropship). Also, Soul Calibur 4 doesn't count sword slashes that go through heads as a hit. Part of being a gamer is realising that you can enjoy games based on their merits alone, and that just because a game didn’t live up to the hype doesn’t mean that it’s not fun.
@xdress17464 жыл бұрын
*Stunlocked by Million Gunman* You could always, y'know, try rolling instead of blocking? Is it some big secret that dodging has always been better than blocking in these games? Quick edit as I'm actually currently playing through The Hero's Face, a level notorious for having several heavies and fatties. You mention these enemies being flawed for soaking up hits when this just isn't true. You either don't upgrade your muscle stat, don't use the dash attack, or both. I currently have level 5 muscle, dash attack takes away a quarter of their health, and regular combos finish them rather quickly. As for the copious waves of enemies, it honestly never bothered me, considering how short most of the levels are, and some bosses not even having a level (If you're going to criticize anything, this is a good one), I'd much rather hack and slash a bunch of enemies than run from room to room.

Everything you mention here is why I hated No More Heroes 2. I loved the first one to death and I even bought the PS3 version for full price just like I picked up the original Wii No More Heroes for full price. You forgot to mention the whole Charlie MacDonald and his cheerleaders count as a whole shitload of ranks. So basically to me they took everything I loved about the first game which made it unique and fresh like the whole Wiimote phone, the driving around (which should have been improved for the sequel), the quirky odd jobs (the 8 bit ones are fine but not every mini game needed to be 8 bit) and stuff like that.

I feel what you are saying. Still I feel they wanted to change some aspects for the sequel. For the boss characters they probably wanted to get a sense of their character off in another way compared to the original. To me the best example would be Moonlight where her song during the fight gets her character out in the open. For the gameplay point of view, the only thing I miss is the darkstep, it was way better in the first game and in 2 it felt like a 50/50 deal. Also with Travis changing in terms of personality I feel that is a good change because to me Travis became the type of legend he wanted to fight and fighting Nathan Copland really shown that off. I am also one of those guys that prefered the mini games in the first game, they had a odd sense of charm and I feel the 8-bit games did not have that same feeling. I will also say I feel No More Heroes 2 is a bit more of a challenge compared to the first game, some fair and some not fair. I do love how you can do Bitter now with no upgrades at all while in No More Heroes 1 you can only do that in a new game + with upgrades forced on you. For the third title, I would like to see a mixture of the ideas in 1 and 2. I want varaiations with beam katanas compared to upgrades, but I would personally love to see the flow and darkstep functionality of the first game. I cannot wait to see how silly Suda is going to get with the mini games and charging functions with the HD Rumble too.

Its kind of funny. I personally think that NMH2 has a smoother and more enjoyable combat feel. The first one has a really blocky and square combat style imho, one where you cant dodge roll without staying locked on, move around easily, or be able to use combos and beat attacks effectively together. The second one combines these two flaws I had and makes it to where you can dash attack. But that, unfortunately, made the combat less enjoyable for some reason. I guess because the combat was improved to be better the game just isn't as fun because the game isn't hard because of bullshit. But what do I know

I don't know. It's pretty out there. And even if that was his intention, there are MUCH better ways to convey a message to the player through gameplay. For example, in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, there's a part where you're running towards a lighthouse in the distance for quite a few minutes while you keep running past every enemy. It shows how the protagonist doesn't care about anything else but getting to his destination, the same way the player feels.

Absolutely. For example, I think Spec Ops: The Line was fantastic despite not being very fun. But that game wasn't trying to be fun, and it's sacrifice of fun was made to support a core point the game was trying to make that most of the other design decisions were based around. I sense No More Heroes is trying to be fun and makes decisions to the detriment of that in order to make points that are not essential or part of the core point that the game is making.

I wouldn't like NMH2 at first bc of a concept that could've been good but ends up in a poor execution to a sequel, but then again, Suda51 might actually made this part of the game intentional, which make US looked like fools. I still love the first No More Heroes than the second one but I'm still giving this a chance. No More Heroes is not the perfect series after all. I still can't wait for Suda51's next idea in the future especially that involves with No More Heroes 3, soon to be confirmed. After getting NHM2, Travis Strikes Again will be next on my list.

I love this game series, the first one was such a kick ass surprise for the Wii. The second one is better in the combat gameplay aspect, so I def disagree on that. I honestly miss the intentionally crappy empty city. I understand why they took that out but would've been cool if they instead just had it to where you drive around the map or something at least. It's not like there's a lack of games to play if you want to run around open worlds so it's not that big a deal. There's plenty to do in NMH2 and streamlining the less exciting bits was a good idea overall. It's really a game about atmosphere, humor and combat and all those things are done almost perfectly imo. These will always be 2 of the best Wii games and great examples to throw in the face of Shia lebouf anytime he emerges from his hidey hole. (for those that don't know wtf I'm on about...he once said that the Wii isn't a real game console it's a child's toy.
