The RAM was so rapid because it has a 100 grip modifier, which is the same as alot of other grippy cars like the Oreca Viper for example. its also has a glitch to give 200 points each time. honestly a sleeper in gt4

The IS200 (J) picked for the challenge is a fictional automobile created by Gran Turismo 4 while converting cars between regions. Altezza RS200, the 4-pot BEAMS one was only ever sold as Toyota in Japan.

A big problem with american cars on racing games is that classic muscle cars had many different final drive options affecting gesr ratios. Games always seem to go for the shortest gearing options which in real life would have been for 1/4 mile drag racing, most would be sold with longer gears. Like the chevelle for example, in games always has the 4.10s and tops out at 132mph, there were many other options in gearing that would allow for 150+mph

This persists in GT6, I love muscle cars but you really can't play them unless you go for the full custom gear, so you can get a 5th and make the car more similar to regular road cars

Also bit of an interesting trivia is the Eagle Talon was made in collaboration with Mitsubishi, hence why the first two generations of the Eclipse shared parts with the Talon. The Pontiac Laser was built with Mitsubishi’s guidance as well.

28:23 In this game you need to take off the assists for all the cars right away, they literally kill traction and cornering. This is why you struggled a lot on acceleration with the Ka; since it's front wheel drive, the problem was even more noticeable. Only assist you can use is just 1 click of tcs if you have difficulties to tame really powerful cars, like prototypes.

This is your first video for me so a quick tip with those 200 pt races, if you're quicker on the corners at the exit, you can always over brake in front of your opponent to reduce their entrance and change their angle while maintaining position in front of them. As long as you race a little safer than normal in those situations, you wont spin yourself out or cause too much of a loss on your lead if the AI has to overcompensate to maintain their line

Answer is no, the Boxer Challenge kills this run as only Subaru and RUF qualify. It and the Sport Truck race kill every other challenge as only New Dealership Ford, Dodge, Chevy, or Toyota can compete. I will add the Ram is genuinely quick when upgraded and always gives 200 points. Beat the Audi Lemans at the wet Tsukuba course. The fact a tuned RX-7 and a Superbird had such a close battle is what makes GT4 so magical

So I dont blame you for not knowing this, but: 1: ALL configurations of the Chevrolet Corvair had a flat 6. Also rear engined. What you showed in game was a Chevrolet Corvette. First 2 years had a straight 6. 2: Would have helped you immensely with the Superbird in particular to shift up well before the redline. A lot of cars in GT4 are like this, where peak power is well before the engine runs all the way through its RPM range. Great video otherwise, looking forward to more in the future!

In reference to 1: correct what I showed was the C1 corvette, however I was trying to relay that the Corvair concept was very similar to the Corvette C1, I read that it’s what inspired the C1 etc. Did a fair bit of research into boxer engines and Flat engines when making this video, looks like I still don’t quite grasp. So what I’m taking away from this all is, all boxer engines are flat engines, but not all flat engines are boxer engines. Muscle car comments are absolutely correct, I assumed real life logic didn’t apply here as 9/10 times you can just redline cars in older GT games for optimal performance. Late comment here, but I went ahead and gave this a watch, all the way through. Having never played a racing game more advanced than Mario Kart, I'm really impressed with the feature set and depth from the age of the game. It goes to show how much you can do when you have a passionate team making this stuff. I absolutely LOVE the small funny edits you did. Fun fact: a lot of the car models are heavily bugged or badly coded into the game. That Saleen probably wasn't play tested, so they left it in the game as is. Just something to show towards basement dwellers who claim that modern games come out unfinished when plenty of old games simply cut out like 90-70% of its content.
