Awesome review, thank you for the kind words! Everything was on point, and lots for us to consider. I’d say Afterburner was probably a stronger inspiration but starfox was definitely up there.

Thanks for the comment! Afterburner is one game I didn't even consider and definitely falls more in line with the designs I noticed while playing, gives me more insight. Thanks again and I hope the team tries their hand again with this genre!

Great review, man. I feel that samey-ness is one of the main issues of the genre. One of the strong points of Star Fox games was that you had enemies AND a level to deal with (as in, avoiding stuff and whatnot). That being said, it looks very interesting. As a fellow on-rails shooter lover, I may take a look at this game, which I hadn't seen before. Great visuals and aesthetics too.

I think for a small team, the direction is AMAZING. I'm gonna buy it and hope for a Rogue Flight 2, maybe more Star Fox inspired rather Afterburner but still a great game!

I wholeheartedly agree, I think the games look and aesthetics are fantastic.

*Starlink: Battle For Atlas was a good one 👌 been waiting 25 years for a true Starfox planet exploration game though.*

Definitely the indie sleeper hit of 2024. Double-dipped on Switch and PS5.

This reminds me more of After Burner Climax more than a StarFox game.

So there are three paths, Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. Is Alpha the easiest, Beta the medium one, and Gamma the hardest?

They all felt similar in difficulty to me, if I'm honest.

And… There’s a New Game+?
Ай бұрын
@SolCresta3405 yeah, there's a new game plus mode that changes the levels to a degree but I didn't want to spoil the surprise just in case! (Hope not many see this 😅) And just in case you're wondering, my critique of the levels variety still stuck.

Yeah it has the look of Star Fox, but I was disappointed that it was more of a tunnel run style game with no planetary surface enemies. It's basically a shooting gallery. Which is fine just disappointing. The game has so much potential. Rail shooters don't have to go in a straight line.
@waynetech9446Ай бұрын
Wow, this looks very good. Is it going to have a physical release?

I believe it is, as the press kit had pictures of PS5 cases with the game, I just don't know when or where to get them.

I assume you can't upgrade the ship or fly different ships since you didn't speak about that.
Ай бұрын
There's a rogue like mode where you can do upgrades and change weapons but I did not try it for long as the base game was my main focus and I'm not the biggest fan of that sub genre.

StarFox was a novalty. This isn't. The End. And I think this is problem of any such game. Mostly they compete in nieche genres with games which carved thier names in history because they was first. But unfortunately most of them not even tried to evolve concept or at least stand alone like self-sufficient project. I don't played both of mentioned games, but I have many similar examples in mind. To be honest this one looks like have a potential, but I wish devs got balls for evolve concept in a new game and make so that people remember or even get known about this genre... If they just not completely change repertoire with next game being some in completely another genre. Well, I really wish some one do the same with open world cosmulators, because I can't replay Freelancer yet another time and any other similar games just miss the vibe or it's freaking X about pity and boring capital ships... I already play Everspace 2 BTW and it nothing close, but good enough just too grindy and roulette dependant for my taste.
@elwen8525Ай бұрын
this looks nothing like star fox. star fox has a lot more dynamic levels where you can shoot buildings and get different paths based on how well you preform. this just looks like you shoot enemies and thats it

I think you're judging the game for something it is not trying to be, man
Ай бұрын
I can see why my critique would come off this way, but believe me I don't want this game to be Star Fox, Sin and Punishment or Panzer Dragoon. I just felt that the level design and pacing overall wasn't as engaging as others in the genre, even with the knowledge that Afterburner was a more direct inspiration, it doesn't take away from the steps those other titles took to make the genre more engaging. I still thinks it's a solid game and fun can be had. Thanks for the comment, though.

Makes a review video for a videogame and 80% of the time his face covers the entire screen. Dude, the game is the star of the video, not your face.

It's more like 50% of the time (or at least I tried to make it 50%.) With that said, so what? It's how I like to make my reviews. You don't like it, don't watch it. 🤷♂️
