I’m In south Texas and see yellow bells in every yard and on every corner so I had to get some orange ones for my yard! I’ll keep it potted until spring since we’ve had those insane freezes lately. I bought a baby ❤

Recently bought a bunch of 5 to 6 footers how long did you wait before removing the stick that holds them upright? How long until they stand on their own without any support?
@TheGardenNerd4 ай бұрын
Keeping the stick wont do much damage if any. I would wait 6 months or so and then it should be able to stand up on its own. You can prune it heavily as well to help with stronger branches.

It's incredible, thanks for sharing! Eventually, we want to grow something tall over our back wall and orange jubilee wasn't even on my radar as something that could grow so tall. It's beautiful.

Love it, just planted one. Did you stake or brace yours when first planting? I just want it tall and bushy/thick. Should I let it grow wild? haha
@TheGardenNerd Жыл бұрын
I've staked a few, but now I just let them grow wild and prune every so often to keep in check. Good luck with your new one!

I planted one of these in late summer last year in Oregon. It was planted at the same time I planted 2 Sonic Bloom plants on either side of it. We got cold this winter for about a week at like 15 deg and I think it died. The other 2 Sonic Bloom's have leaves, this one does not. And these are not inexpensive. I am so bummed. 😮💨

I live in the Coachella Valley in California. In the yard, in full sun year round, are 2 of these alongside 2 yellow bells. This is a tract home & these were developer planted. The plants all have numerous 'trunks' none of which are more 3/4" in dia. At this time (early January) they are all still flowering but not extensively I believe because of the cooler weather. All have 4 to 8 separate 'trunks. I like them a lot & need to know how aggressively or, non-aggressively I should cut or trim. All of them are 4'-5' tall, not bushy but not spindly either. Should I pinch or cut off the seed pods? They are drip watered once per week for 15 minutes with a 2gph emmiter & I have been fertilizing 4 times annually. Our summers are routinely 115-120 for several months.
@TheGardenNerd3 жыл бұрын
They can be trimmed heavily and will recover just fine. I would wait until early spring and then trim them down.

I put it outside , it withered 105° summer heat . Should I give it shade ? Or it withered maybe because I brought it inside with AC at 76 ° I have it in a pot . . . . any ideas on what could be wrong with it ?
@TheGardenNerd3 жыл бұрын
Yes, shade and water. It likes the sun and can handle the heat, but the first summer you need to give it a little extra water.
