That happened to me but with my PS5 and God of War Ragnarok. I had it since 2022 but just got around to playing it last month. It was ok. Kinda boring. Breath of the Wild is a great game. Tears of the Kingdom felt like a DLC that they smacked a $70 price tag. Just a heads up- just pick up a used physical copy if you wanna play it. Thank me later.

Better watch Metal Jesus Rocks, he usually showcases different games, not just on Switch, pretty much every console. He does have some old school taste in games but he does have some good insights on every game

Indie games on the eshop recommendation(from what i played):-Cult of the lamb if you like a cute roguelike stardew valley,don't starve, binding of issac,animal crossing inspired dungeon crawler -Bugsnax from the same people that brought you octodad the game is the literal embodiment of you are what you eat. cute bugs that are snaxs feed them or donate them,do little quests that will decide the ending of the game -dicey dungeons another rougelike dungeon crawler game but its a gameshow and the mcs are dices instead of animals and cults.but you really need to think of a strategy for beating the dungeon -just shapes and beats a rhythm bullet hell with a story and banger music it also has multiplayer, playlist to choose which level you want to play in different orders and some songs get unlocked by doing a certain criteria and a party mode(aka you don't die mode just bopping to the music)

I never woulda thought i would like zelda as much as i do now. I thought at first it’ll be a fun game you know, I’m not much of a zelda fan but no way would I thought I would finish it. After a few days i got all the shrines, upgraded my master sword, built my house and got granté (in case my hylian shield broke), got all the memories, gotten all my costumes and finished the game twice (that includes all the divine beasts). Although i still havent gotten all the side quests so. Kinda weird i still have like 24.55% done when it reality it should be more So to those wondering if you should get it, I strongly recommend you do, at first you may think its slow and whatnot but as you progress it only gets more fun, trust me. Like i said I’m not much of a zelda fan but because of it I’m glued to it. Im giving it a break now and I’m playing south park now lol but its really worth the money. Ps: i hope totk wins, it’s probably better in almost every way than botw, also just cause i dont want re4r to win lol that game is trash XD

I love these recommendations myself but the one feedback that I would give is that you said this is for someone who has never picked up a Switch. So assuming these people might not be very familiar with Nintendo games I would give recommendations that are a bit more varied and that would include games for people with different personalities, different ages and different reasons for wanting to pick up a Switch. Like maybe include Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon for people that wanna wind down after work, Mario Odyssey, Mario Party, Breath of the Wild and Smash Ultimate were great recommendations, but yeah I’d make it more varied for someone getting into Nintendo systems for the first time

The only other Consoles I ever had were a Hanimex, Colecovision and Atari 2600. After that I was solely a Computer gamer, the C64, Amiga and then the PC I'm back to Console gaming with the Switch, a great little Console. There is a difference between new to games, new to Switch, age and hobbies I wouldn't recommend any of these blindly without giving a thought in who is gonna play it, I got two nephews when both were new to gaming at around 4, I could recommend fantasy genre like Journey (which he beat within that very same day) to one as he quickly got into wrecking people online in Splatoon on Wii U while the other needed a soft intro with Paw Patrol and still find Zelda and Mario games hard to play to this day

Another Pokémon game I would recommend is Mystery Dungeon DX. Its a remaster of the original and a true master piece! Genuinely difficult and challenging too so it never gets boring. The remaster is beautiful too
