As a very mature student i’ve noticed my brain no longer sucks up information like a sponge, actually more like a limp flannel. I’ve been introduced to this channel and it’s brilliant. The tuition is excellent, easy to understand and the practice questions are definitely very useful for me. Thank you so much ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hi Maths Tutor. Brilliant video as always. I had a quick question - if it asks me for the sum of the first hundred terms of a sequence that is 3n plus 4 how would i go about that?
@zealous261
@zealous261 Жыл бұрын
you would use the formula: S = (n/2) {2a + (n − 1) d}, where n is the number of terms you want to add up to, a is the first term, and d is the difference between the terms. In this case, a = 7, n = 100, and d = 4, so S = (100/2)*{2*7 + (100 - 1)*4} = 50*(14 + 99*4) = 50*(14+396) = 50*410 = 20500

what if n starts at 0 would that not mean for the first example you did it would become 3n+4 instead of 3n+1 as 0 can also be defined as n, really the question should be more specific
