The " Mechanics" were so very special indeed.Creative ,talented, as musicians, lyricists, arrangers and add to that , the mega vocal talents of Paul Carrack and Paul Young, who left us oh so early. [ Paul, we miss you so much RIP ] They have given all of us a wealth of great music to remember , and to cherish. Great group with so much talent given to the world...Peace !

In an interview Paul Carrack said after the death of Paul Young, there could be no replacement and that's why he left. Two great singers that have not had enough recognition.

We were lucky enough to see them twice when Paul Young was with them, he was the most amazing performer, really connected with the crowd and got the places rocking. Two wonderful voices backed by superb musicians.

baz sam he was actually 53 when he passed away. Still, a great tragedy. Mike Rutherford said it was hard for him to get back into the studio and record anything new from them after that and that the album 'Rewired', which was the only one featuring Paul Carrack as the sole lead vocalist, was not one he was particularly fond of because he felt somewhat disconnected from the process of making it as he was still mourning.

The bit that Paul Young failed to mention when talking about going to see Mike, he had to borrow the money for the audition! He was that skint due to incompetent management at Sad Café, what a voice and stage presence though. R.I.P. Paul, you more than paid your dues.

Thanks for posting this...I am a BIG M&M fan!!! Does ANYBODY/ANYWHERE have the COMPLETE show of M&M "Live from the House of Blues" taped/broadcast in 94/95????,,, I have found several cut-up songs here and there, but not the whole show?!?!?... It was taped at "The House of Blues" on Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood and I was there down at the front singing my heart out (RATHER LOUDLY) all night,,,I think it was only broadcast once (?) on TBS cable channel back then...of course it could be buried because I was louder than the band and probably out of tune!!????...Bwahahaha...good times..... great pop/rock band and great songs...how could you miss with three songwriters like Mike,Paul, and Paul.....

No doubt that Paul Carrack has an amazing voice as did the late Paul young.I love some of their material but I think PC never made the real big time possibly some of his or their work was just a bit on the sad side , mainly minor keys.Mike is an extremely proficient guitarist and has had great experiences in Genesis . A very tight group . I much prefer PC as a keyboard singer songwriter to Elton John.There are a few songs that Mike and the Mechanics did that were amazing. All the light I need ,Living Years,Beach Of Gold , All I need is a Miracle. My personal favourite’s .

Was Paul Carrack trying to look like Bono here
@unhingedsoulcollector85014 жыл бұрын
I'm sure any resemblance is pure coincidence as Paul Carrick's visual and musical r&b style couldn't be further apart from what U2 were at that time. Considering Mike in the mechanics level of success I wouldn't think that they would even consider taking their cues from anybody else. Paul Carrack Paul Young and Mike Rutherford in my humble opinion we're not followers but we're definitely a great musical combination up until Paul Young's death in 2000.

Hi have you noticed that a lot of the great uploads have now been deleted ...my favourites on KZbin now have so many 'deleted items' where the account holder has left/ been deleted.. All the uploads from the house obj blues have gone , criminal !,
@Wadj18 жыл бұрын
Mine too. etnopolino (?) deleted his/her whole account and many of the MATM videos were on there. There was also the one of the Girobank ad that Paul sang, that's gone too :( I'm hoping it doesn't continue because a lot of this stuff is just not available anywhere else, so it's not as if we can get the CDs or even the vinyl copies. I'd love to be able to find the rest of the rehearsals for 'So it goes' from 77. There's a little bit of it from a Swedish rock show I found, but that's all so far. I have the audio, but it's really bad. I'd like to get the Sight and Sound gig where Sad Cafe supported Tom Robinson. 78/79 I think, because there are only two songs from it and both of those were uploaded by Dave Irving (Caffs drummer) If he had any more I think he would have posted by now.

PY does look tired. Isn't this the year before he passed? Yet he has more personality than anyone else on that stage. PY made this group preat!
