I put these on my Schecter Omen Extreme-4, and my goodness what a great set of strings. They feel so weirdly good. The only strings I'm using from now on.

My favourite roundwounds of all time!Great smooth feel, and good tension. The tone is very meaty and full. The bass is strong but tight, along with full, rich sounding mids, and a smooth treble, that’s got some snap if you slap or attack aggressively. I don’t need compression, particularly flor slap anymore, like I did with the sunbeams (which were nice, but much brighter and too soft tension. They’re probably my second choice of rounds, once they mellow in.) These strings also retain a great sound for ages, which I was worried about, because it was near perfect from the start. Took a week or two for some of the strings to settle in, but I haven’t noticed any change so far in tone and it’s been a little over a month now, so far so good. And the green silk really tops it off. I love the colour, especially on my fender headstocks. Pure nickel, roundcore, balanced design, green silk... I couldn’t think of anything more perfect for me. GHS surely are the best when it comes to strings, DR being a close second. I know these are perhaps the first choice for a p bass instead of a jazz, but I really dig them especially for my jazz bass. (I have flats on my p instead.) No major loss in top end if I need it, but everything else has just improved. It’s now a meaty, full bass tone, which is how a jazz bass should sound, really, as I view the jazz bass as a compliment, or an extension of the p bass sound. None of this twangy, zingy rubbish. All of the highs, but none of the booty. It’s not bass without the booty.

scratch that... roundcore boomers are now my fave! Better fit tonally and tension wise for my jazz bass... honestly I could not think of a more perfect string for my jazz bass. In fact, I believe the rcb were designed especially for jazz basses, because they are just the perfect match.

Because of this video, I picked up a set. I'll post my feedback after I have a chance to play them.

Please make a balanced super steel set!

That's something we could definitely look into, sure!

@@TheGHSStrings awesome! Switching from a balanced back to a not balanced set feels so wrong.

Hello which string to choose for a 5-string bass and for playing funk? thanks in advance
@TheGHSStrings3 жыл бұрын
Hello Antoine, that's not an easy question to answer. You can arguably play funk on any strings you want. I would start with an artist whose tone you admire, and go from there. A lot of slap players lean toward light gauge steel strings, whereas more old-school funk players go to nickel. It all depends.

When will these be shipping? I ordered a set after watching this a month ago, but my shop in Traverse City, says it's backordered.
@TheGHSStrings7 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, they've been shipping since early September. However, they have been HUGELY popular and we currently are on backorder. We're working diligently to get them back in stock as quickly as possible.

Bass strings have always bugged me (life long guitarist 54 years pro), and I suspect the wraps are why. I can't wait to try these strings out. I've been using GHS for decades and suspect that the early '60's strings I used - Squire strings from Battle Creek MI -are in fact the same company in it's current status.
@TheGHSStrings7 жыл бұрын
Close, but not the same company. The three founders (named Gould, Holcomb, and Solko) worked for the VC Squire company before going out on their own. Squire was later bought by Fender.

Ah. Thanks. I grew up in Chicago and might have heard the story and forgotten the path. The strings I recall in '63 said Battle Creek on the packaging. I was thinking it was VC Squire.... so obviously the details have "drifted" a tad since then! LOL Actually, I gigged in BC in the '70s (The Attic? it was an A frame...) and once again around 15+ years ago at the Kellogg Center (?). Maybe that's when I heard it ....

I have been wondering why GHS doesn't have a "Bass VI" set of flatwounds (all 6 strings), but imagine that could be a custom set.
@Ausf.D.A.K.3 жыл бұрын
Too bad GHS doesn't offer balanced tension strings for electric guitar. I would've loved to play those.
@TheGHSStrings3 жыл бұрын
We thought about that, but we have such a wide selection of strings available in types and gauges, that we felt coming up with an intuitive and easy-to-use tension chart to allow the player to create their own set out of the entire GHS Catalog was more valuable than a small handful of sets.
