DIY Rooftop Solar Shower

Do you ever need hot, fresh water while camping or on a long road trip? This solar shower gives you off-the-grid hot water with very little effort and up-front cost. The total cost was $102 and it took me an hour to assemble. Materials are listed here:
-4"x10' schedule 40 PVC pipe
-2, 4" PVC caps
-1, 4x4x3" clean-out sweep
-1, 3" check valve
-PVC glue and primer
-tubeless valve stem
-1/2" hose bib
-JB Weld Marine Weld
-Silicone sealant
-Flat, black spray paint

You deserve the thumbs up for this one. Awesome. Really loved the privacy tent too. Had to laugh when I saw the JB Weld, only 'cause I have seen that used so much by folks I know over the years. Nice video I like how you used PVC. If I could do my build over again I would use PVC. How is the paint holding up? Also I like the silicone idea on the shredder valve how is that holding up? Great channel man!

Thanks for checking in! Everything is holding up great so far. We are testing it on a week long trip now actually. One thing I wish I had done differently was to put the business end towards the front of the car so I could open my back hatch all the way. 😂 oh well. Thanks for the feedback!

Nice BUT allot of work and cost. You could have bought a 7 gal water jug and attached a hose, painted it black and placed it on the roof and had gravity do the same.

Why not use black PVC???

They don't make black PVC. There is black piping called ABS but it is not good if you want to use your solar shower for potable drinking water. The ABS piping, once hot, leaches chemicals into the water. It is not made to get really hot.
