For banning cheaters it's better to not ban everyone immediately and wait for a big ban wave, because doing it that way is a bigger backlash to cheat creators and if the anti-cheat found a patch for their cheat, if it's been some time it will be harder for the cheat creator to figure out what they patched.

I really don't understand why people cheat in video games with nothing on the line. You get nothing for it and if you win, you won because you cheated, but you don't get any money or recognition and you aren't a good player for winning with cheats, so why? Also, everyone hates cheaters it ruins the experience for everyone else and drives people away from the game.
